  • Patent number: 6113542
Abstract: A method of and apparatus for determining intraocular pressure, automatically corrected for variations in corneal thickness. The apparatus includes an ophthalmic pachymeter having a pachymetric probe, an applanation tonometer having an applanation probe and a microprocessor. As the applanation probe touches the cornea, the ophthalmic pachymeter generates a pachymetric signal indicative of central corneal thickness. This signal is sent to and recorded by the microprocessor. When applanation occurs, the applanation tonometer generates an applanation signal indicative of intraocular pressure. This signal is sent, as well, to the microprocessor. The microprocessor, which has been programmed with an algorithm to correct the applanation signal based on the pachymetric signal, indicates the corrected value for intraocular pressure.

  • Patent number: 6105877
Abstract: A device for comminuting liquid has a liquid supply with first and second outlets, a first electrohydrodynamic comminuter for subjecting liquid issuing from the first outlet to an electrical potential to cause the liquid to be commrinuted to form a comminution of one polarity and a second electrohydrodynamic comminuter for subjecting liquid issuing from the second outlet to an electrical potential to cause liquid to be commninuted to form a comminution of the opposite polarity. The first and second electrohydrodynamic comminuters are arranged so as to cause substantial admixing of two opposite polarity comminutions.

  • Patent number: 6107911
Abstract: A self-contained programmable time interval alarm device that has a plurality of switches or buttons to set the alarm interval. Depending on the mode of the device, each button corresponds either to a day of the week or a numeral representing a particular time digit or number of dosages for a given time interval. In this manner, the alarm is simply programmable by actuating a sequence of buttons corresponding to the desired interval. The alarm device has a housing to which is attached a clamp supplied with jaws, into which containers of different dimensions can be clamped and held. The jaws move from a relaxed position to an expanded position and finally to a biased position as the medication container is pushed between free ends of the jaws and then pushed to enter a grasping space between the jaws.

  • Patent number: 6089188
Abstract: An animal spraying and scratching property protector that protects an area to be sprayed by blocking the urine from reaching the targeted area. The animal spraying and scratching property protector comprises a splashwall and trough. The splashwall is positioned erect to protect the areas that may be sprayed. The trough is arranged to collect the urine as the urine drips downward along the splashwall after the urine has been sprayed onto the splashwall by an animal such as a cat. The trough is closed at oppositely disposed sidewalls in order to prevent the urine from exiting or otherwise leaking from the sides of the trough. The area targeted for spraying is protected by blocking the urine, thereby, safeguarding the protected areas. The urine can be neatly disposed of, for example, by pouring the urine from the trough into a toilet. The animal spraying and scratching property protector can then be rinsed and replaced for the next spraying instance.
