  • Patent number: 7854129
Abstract: Disclosed is an apparatus that provides refrigerant based energy storage and cooling. When connected to a condensing unit, the system has the ability to store energy capacity during one time period and provide cooling from the stored energy during a second time period. The system requires minimal energy to operate during either time period, and only a fraction of the energy required to operate the system during the first time period is required to operate the system during the second time period using an optional refrigerant pump.

  • Patent number: 7834697
Abstract: Disclosed is a common mode feedback circuit for a differential amplifier that eliminates the effects of low frequency noise. A modulator is placed in a common mode feedback loop that modulates the feedback loop signal at a predetermined frequency to up-convert the low frequency noise. The predetermined frequency may be selected to be above the operating range of the downstream circuitry. In addition, a low pass filter can be used to eliminate the up-converted noise.

  • Patent number: 7827807
Abstract: Disclosed is a method and device to increase the cooling load that can be provided by a refrigerant-based thermal energy storage and cooling system with an improved arrangement of heat exchangers. This load increase is accomplished by circulating cold water surrounding a block of ice, used as the thermal energy storage medium, through a secondary heat exchanger where it condenses refrigerant vapor returning from a load. The refrigerant is then circulated through a primary heat exchanger within the block of ice where it is further cooled and condensed. This system is known as an internal/external melt system because the thermal energy, stored in the form of ice, is melted internally by a primary heat exchanger and externally by circulating cold water from the periphery of the block through a secondary heat exchanger.

  • Patent number: 7818155
Abstract: A system and method for automatically analyzing impedance and pH data from an esophageal probe includes a data collection system that collects and stores the output from the sensors for a certain period of time to locate reflux episodes in the waveforms. The data analysis system uses wavelet analysis to assist in locating bolus entry and exit points in the waveforms and to smooth waveforms for additional analysis. It also distinguishes between candidate acid reflux episodes and candidate non-acid reflux episodes for determining actual acid reflux episodes and non-acid reflux episodes, and it distinguishes between, and provides different signal processing for, signals from patients that have healthy esophageal tissue and those that have diseased esophageal tissue.

  • Patent number: 7801184
Abstract: Disclosed is an adaptive method for training a source synchronous parallel receiver. The adaptive method for training, or aligning, parallel data channels permits a parallel communication receiver to adaptively adjust the timing of data channels to align the data channels with a frame channel and achieve a source synchronous signal for the parallel data channels. Further, portions of the frame channel training pattern may be used because possible time shift accuracy error is accounted for between the communication channels and a determination is made as to which portion of the frame pattern is currently being received. The data channels are then aligned appropriately.

  • Patent number: 7784144
Abstract: A system and method for enabling the replacement of electric toothbrush heads on toothbrush models that require users to replace the entire toothbrush head assembly is described. Toothbrush head assemblies typically include much more than a simple toothbrush head, for example, a shank attached to magnets and a housing for coupling the shank to the toothbrush base. The present invention therefore permits the replacement of worn out toothbrush heads instead of entire toothbrush head assembly that includes many parts that have not worn out. The system includes tools for separating an existing toothbrush head from a shank and replacement toothbrush heads having new bristles that couple with the shank or the head assembly of a particular toothbrush model.
