  • Patent number: 6461118
Abstract: A fluid pump includes a pump housing with a pump cavity in which a first and second gear are positioned for pumping fluid. The first gear is operably connected to a motor for rotation and the second gear is rotatably mounted to a shaft for geared rotation with the first gear. Fluid inlet and outlet ports are located in communication with the pump cavity and adapted respectively for connection with a source of fluid and a discharge means. A bypass valve is positioned between the inlet and outlet ports to selectively permit fluid pumped between the inlet and outlet ports to pass through it when the outlet port is flow restricted. The bypass valve is normally closed to fluid pumped by said first and second gears to flow from said inlet port to said outlet port, but is opened to permit flow to cavitate when not desired to pump.

  • Patent number: 6431202
Abstract: A rotary valve for directing fluid streams which has a circular stationary head having at least one and desirably multiple primary ports for connection with fluid streams at least one secondary port. The stationary head includes a number of first circular concentric channels formed therein and at least one second concentric channel. The first and second channels are associated with the primary and secondary ports, respectively. A rotatable head is provided having radial chambers, each having a first and second port for connection between a first channel and a secondary port. The rotatable head rotates against the stationary head and channels in a fluid sealed manner. An indexable drive rotates the rotatable head to interconnect predetermined primary channels and secondary ports. The timing of rotation can be continuous or intermittent depending upon the associated process of the fluid streams.

  • Patent number: 6415317
Abstract: The present invention provides a software system used for transmission of information between multiple users interacting on a distributed computer network such as the Internet. The system comprises a central server computer connected to a plurality of client computers by means of a communication network such as the Internet. The server authoritatively models the state of the virtual environment in which the users interact. To eliminate latency each client predictively models the state of the virtual environment before the client is made aware by the server of commands issued by other users. Each command issued by a user is forwarded to the server. The client does not wait for the server to send back a response. Instead the client updates its own predictive model of the virtual environment to reflect the effects of the command it sent to the server. It displays these effects immediately thereby eliminating the latency in transmission between server and client.

  • Patent number: 6414318
Abstract: The present invention relates to an electronic circuit for measuring small amounts of charge or small electrical currents. One embodiment of the present invention provides an electronic circuit for measuring current or charge that can be used with a variety of sensing media (including high impedance sensing media) that produce a signal by either charge or current production or induction in response to physical phenomena occurring within the sensing media. In another embodiment, the voltage level (bias) of either the sensing or reference electrode can be switched relative to the other upon receipt of a triggering pulse. This changes the polarity of the electric field to cause charge of the opposite polarity to be driven to the sensing electrode, thereby eliminating the need to electrically connect a discharge path to the sensing electrode to clear the charge accumulated at the sensing electrode.

  • Patent number: 6357628
Abstract: The present invention generally provides a threaded tamper-evident closure having an annular hook-shaped flange extending radially inward from the inner surface of the tamper-evident band attached to the bottom edge of the closure body. The hook-shaped flange can be continuous or segmented and forms an upwardly angled surface for engaging the sealing flange on the bottle neck. A plurality of elevated areas extend upwardly from the tamper-evident band in spaced relation to the bottom edge of the closure body. The frangible elements connecting the tamper evident band to the lower edge of the closure depending annular flange may be configured to extend from these elevated areas as well as the non-elevated areas of the tamper-evident band. Pairs of cooperating ratchets may be used in lieu of or in combination with the elevated bridge areas to reduce the stress placed upon frangible elements and/or during cap application.
