  • Patent number: 4995290
Abstract: An appartus for controlling a mechanical music-maker, such as a player-piano has a multiplicity of mechanical actuators and uses a vacuum as the motive force therefor. The mechanical actuators, which actuate corresponding musical keys, are each controlled by a valve which connects the vacuum to the mechanical actuator when opened. The valve is opened when the vacuum side thereof is vented to atomsphere by the first venting system. A second venting system is provided, which can be isolated from the first venting system. The second venting system utilizes electrically energizable solenoid valves to control the venting of the vacuum side of each valve when the first venting system is isolated therefrom.

  • Patent number: 4995981
Abstract: The invention relates to a process for anaerobically degrading highly concentrated process waste waters as obtained particularly in the chemical industry, in paper mills and cellulose plants, fish-processing plants, and in the production and elimination of alcohol or the like, whereby the CSB-content may be up to 10.sup.6 mg/l or more. This process comprises a putrefactive process which is induced in at least one decomposition tank at about 34.degree. C. by circulating normal sewage sludge, whereby upon start-up of the putrefactive process, a change to chemical process waste waters is carried out without adding communal sewage sludge. Subsequently, the sludge is withdrawn from the decomposition tank, flocculated, and returned to the external circulation for circulating the putrefactive sludge in the decomposition tank.

  • Patent number: 4992019
Abstract: A rubbish collection vehicle with a rubbish collection container located on a chassis behind the driver's cab has a rubbish intake unit which comprises a rubbish compaction unit for forcing the rubbish in an operating direction through a container intake opening. The operating direction of the rubbish compaction unit extends at an oblique angle from the front/bottom to the top/back upwardly to the roof of the rubbish collection container. A projection has been provided in the area of the container intake opening on the bed of the rubbish collection container to reduce the cross section of the container intake opening. As a result of the direction of operation selected, rubbish is compacted across the total cross-sectional area of the rubbish collection container, as well as being initially compacted against the roof of the rubbish collection container, thereby enabling optimal utilization of the entire container capacity.

  • Patent number: 4987789
Abstract: A swivel disk friction gear system has a driving part and a driven part, each having a concave outer surface. An axially adjustable set ring is arranged between these parts. The gear system also has swivel disks with convex outer surfaces which are pivotably mounted in the set ring and swing freely with respect thereto and are frictionally engaged with the concave surface of the driving and driven parts. A drive shaft connected with the driving part has a piston rigidly connected thereto. The piston is surrounded by a cylindrical bore defining a hollow space within the driving or driven part, which part is axially displaceable on the drive shaft. The hollow space acts as a compression space to accommodate movement of the piston plate, the compression space is connected with a pressure conduit for a pressure medium.
