Abstract: In a connector including a fitting portion to be fitted to a mating connector, signal contacts are disposed in the fitting portion in a first row. A ground plate includes a plurality of ground terminals disposed in the fitting portion in a second row parallel to the first row. These contacts are held by a housing. A conductive shell is coupled to the housing and includes a shell body partially covering these contacts, a bent portion bent inward from the shell body at an end of the fitting portion, and a protecting portion extending from the bent portion with a space which is kept between the protecting portion and the shell body. Each of the ground terminals includes a spring portion extending in the fitting portion and a free end portion extending from the spring portion and inserted into the space with being contacted with the protecting portion.

Abstract: A fiber coupler for coupling light into an optical fiber and/or coupling light out of the fiber, has two holder elements, namely a fiber holder for holding the fiber, and a lens holder for holding a focusing lens. The holder elements are adjustable in the axial and transversal direction, respectively. In order to make such a fiber coupler available, which allows precise adjustment of the position of the focusing lens relative to the fiber, and which is furthermore compact in structure and inexpensive to produce, the holder elements are connected with a base body by way of at least one elastic monolithic joint, in each instance.
Abstract: A method that generates new flow cytometry data files with a potentially infinite number of dimensions is described. First two or more separate flow cytometry data files containing information about events measured in different aliquots from the same sample are fused. Then, the magnitude of the values and a corresponding uncertainty measure of the differing variables between one or more of the original data files which have been fused are estimated, for each individual event contained in the fused data file, for which that variable was not directly measured in the flow cytometer. The new data file containing both data actually measured in the flow cytometer for each event of the individual original data files fused and the estimated data for those parameters not measured in a group of events from one or more of the original data files are reconstructed multidimensionally.

Abstract: A test table for measuring lateral forces and displacements while simultaneously applying, if necessary, normal forces, particularly in nanoidenters and in scratch and wear testers. The test table is mounted in a manner that enables it to be laterally displaced, and the lateral force and displacement can be determined by means of a measured-value acquisition. The test table is fixed between at least two vertically upright leaf springs, which can be laterally deflected in the direction of the lateral (horizontal) motion of the test table to be effected.

Abstract: An apparatus that continuously monitors the arterial pressure measured by a pressure sensor in an artery, which pressure is regarded as the reading Pao that approximately corresponds to the aortal pressure. In principle, the arterial pressure can be measured in the aorta, near the aorta, or in the arterial tree. To provide a second reading, the apparatus, via the input channel, continuously monitors the central venous pressure (CVP), which is regarded as the reading PIT that approximately corresponds to the intrathoracic pressure (ITP). The third reading is provided via the input channel as a reading Z which expresses the thoracic compliance.
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for processing and producing a surface of a material with a reproducible degree of lustre and to a press for carrying out said method. The aim of the invention is to increase the stability of the press. To achieve this, a press is provided with a coating that consists of carbon with diamond-like layers and that adheres to the surface of the press. Said coating has a layer thickness of between 0.1 and 10 ?m and a surface hardness in excess of 1800 HV (Vickers). The attrition of the surface of the press is thus significantly reduced during the processing of abrasion-resistant materials.
Abstract: A gas exchange valve of an internal combustion engine, has valve lifting movements with valve displacement curves and a control unit. To this end, a control unit is provided for operation of at least one valve, in particular a gas exchange valve of an internal combustion engine, in which the valvelifting movement of the at least one valve (6) is generated by superimposing two synchronously rotating cam profiles acting mechanically on a lift operating element (4). The two cam profiles (1, 2) have specially shaped areas by means of which, when superimposed to form one of the two cam profiles (1, 2), at least one additional valve displacement (ZV) can be generated on the whole in addition to a main valve displacement movement (HV) over a full revolution of each of these cam profiles (1, 2).

Abstract: The invention relates to an adsorbent material, a method for cleaning blood and plasma and purifying albumin, and to a method for producing said adsorbent material. The inventive adsorbent material is embodied in the form of a highly cross-linked and porous spherical divinylbenzene copolymer which contains from 4 to 30 weight % of an imidazole derivative and at least 50 weight % of divinylvenzene incorporated by radical polymerization in the presence of air and/or oxygen. Said adsorbent material is embodied in such a way that it is biocompatible and suitable for removing free and albumin-bound toxic substances, drugs, pharmaceutical products, endogenic and exogenic toxins from blood, plasma, and external albumin circuits at a high rate and efficiency. The material is used in particular for adsorbing bilirubin and bile acids and is produced by suspension polymerization.
Abstract: In the case of a bearing with a bearing mandrel for mounting a journal-less rotor with a bore hole in a balancing device, in which the bearing mandrel has openings for fluid to pass through, to be able to determine the imbalance of rotors with bearing possibilities on only part of their axial extent with high precision, in the bearing mandrel first openings for fluid delivery and second openings for liquid removal are provided.
Abstract: The invention relates to a split piston for an internal combustion engine, comprising an upper piece, connected to a lower piece, by means of a screw connection. The screw connection comprises a tubular connector piece, mounted on the underside of the piston upper piece with an external thread, a spacer sleeve with an external and an internal thread and a support rib formed on the lower piece of the piston with an internal thread. The upper piece can thus be screwed to the lower piece, by means of the connector piece, the spacer sleeve and the support rib. The spacer sleeve acts as a compressing body and the connector piece as an extending body, to generate the mechanism tension necessary for fixing the screw connection.
