  • Patent number: 4393388
Abstract: A liquid droplet projection apparatus is disclosed which comprises a nozzle arranged at a liquid droplet ejection head, a liquid droplet supply tank, and an electro-mechanical transducer section interposed on the head between the nozzle and the tank. The volume of the electro-mechanical converter means changes in volume in response to an electrical signal pulse applied thereto to cause the nozzle to eject liquid droplets in accordance with the electrical signal. When the pattern of the electrical signal applied to the electromechanical transducer section has an interruption period longer than a predetermined width and three or more successive electrical signals following the interruption period, the amplitude and/or width of the second one of the successive electrical signals is enlarged as compared with the amplitude and/or width of the other electrical signals, thus preventing the diameter of the second liquid droplet ejected following the interruption from being reduced.

  • Patent number: 4378717
Abstract: A circuit or control arrangement for an adjusting drive of a press ram of a high-speed cutting press which includes top and bottom dies respectively attached to the press ram and a platen of the press with the top die being adapted to dip or penetrate during a cutting process into the bottom die. An arrangement is provided for maintaining the depth of penetration of the upper die means into the lower die means at a constant value in dependence upon an operating condition of the high-speed cutting press. The maintaining arrangement may include at least one limit switch operatively connected with an oscillator stage which provides adjusting signals to the drive motor. In lieu of a limit switch, a cutting force measuring sensor member may be interconnected with an evaluator circuit and the oscillator means so as to control the drive motor.

  • Patent number: 4375099
Abstract: A link performance indicator card analyzes incoming analog data from a demodulator on a bit by bit basis and compares the individual bit amplitudes with a fraction of the average bit signal levels. The data bits that lack sufficient amplitude to be clear-cut "high" or "low" pulses are detected as "pseudo-errors". A bit error rate gate signal controls the detectors in order that circuits operate for only one burst or part of a burst per frame always from the same earth station. A comparator is used for comparing the output of the averaged incoming analog signal with the instantaneous value of the analog signal. Alternate clocking signals are used to perform the averaging function and the comparison function of the average signal with the instantaneous signal. This alternation of the signals frees the comparison operation from the influence of any loading on the circuit. The sample points of the incoming analog signal are adjustable by use of delays on the clock signals fed into the circuits.

  • Patent number: 4372859
Abstract: A method of and a system for removing miniuscule solid particles from liquid wherein the liquid to be processed is supplied to one end of at least one filter element which may be a porous tube filter open at opposite ends and formed with a multiplicity of tiny openings in its wall having a first surface and a second surface. The liquid flows along the first surface and a portion thereof is passed through the tiny openings from the first surface side to the second surface side because of the latter being under lower pressure than the former, to be drawn off as filtrate. The rest of the liquid or a concentrated liquid portion flows out of the other end of the filter element. The flow velocity F of the liquid flowing along the first surface and/or the flow velocity f of the filtrate through the tiny openings is controlled such that the ratio F/f can be kept at a predetermined value.

  • Patent number: 4368354
Abstract: A discriminator apparatus for a television multivoice system comprises a mixer for mixing a program identifying signal with a reference signal thereby to produce a differential beat signal. A reference signal generator includes a signal source of an original frequency, and a frequency converter for converting the original frequency to the reference frequency which is close to the frequency of the program identifying signal and so selected that the frequency of the differential beat signal is lower than the lowest audible frequency. A low-pass filter is employed for extracting the differential beat signal. Need for expensive mechanical filters of a narrow fractional bandwidth is thereby eliminated.

  • Patent number: 4366470
Abstract: A converter includes a voltage selector which employs IGFETs as voltage switching elements, and a controller which controls the IGFETs. Each of the IGFETs in the voltage selector is made either the P-channel type or the N-channel type, depending upon a voltage level to be thereby switched and a level of a binary signal supplied from the controller. As a result, a voltage of comparatively great level can be switched by a binary signal of small level amplitude.

  • Patent number: 4353204
Abstract: A method and system for controlling water level of a drum of a heat recovery steam generator for a combined cycle power plant is provided. The combined cycle power plant includes gas and steam turbines and the steam generator for recovering heat in exhaust gases from the gas turbine and for using the recovered heat to produce and supply steam to the steam turbine. At a start up operation, the water level of the drum is lowered in advance to the plant start up operation so that abrupt rise of the water level due to swelling phenomenon of the boiler water which may result in heat losses by damping water out of the plant is prevented. Also, a gas turbine load increase is maintained at a constant level during a period in which the abrupt water level rise is expected so that the swelling phenomenon is avoided.

  • Patent number: 4353727
Abstract: A mount having a flared portion is so located that it is coaxial with a straight glass tube having an unconstricted end part and that an end face of the flared portion lies slightly inwards with respect to an end face of the glass tube. Subsequently, an outer surface of the end part of the glass tube is uniformly heated, whereby the flared portion and the end part of the glass tube are melted and stuck to each other. At this time, a surface temperature of the whole glass tube except the melted and stuck portion is maintained at or above 40.degree. C. As a result, a fluorescent lamp having good lamp characteristics is fabricated by the use of the inexpensive glass tube.

  • Patent number: 4352649
Abstract: A system for production of non-woven sheet material by the dry forming method, comprising a moving carrier web to receive a uniformly distributed layer of loose fibres and a fibre distributor unit located above and across the moving web. The distributor unit includes a closed conduit system for conducting a flow of air fluidized fibre material, this closed flow across the web being maintained by blowing action. The conduits located overhead the web are provided with outlet openings constituted by narrow slots or screen wall portion, and compressed air nozzles are arranged so as to cause fibres circulating in said flow crosswise to be moved crosswise in the flow outwardly through the outlet openings, whereby a high distributor capacity is obtained by simple means by forcing fibre material out of the outlet openings in a positive manner as distinguished from outlet by general suction from outside the outlet openings.

  • Patent number: RE31506
Abstract: In the production of a semiconductor integrated circuit device including a selective oxidation step at a high temperature using a nitride film as a mask for isolating respective element regions in a semiconductor wafer with oxidized regions, electrode contact regions and active regions are successively formed in each element region to be surrounded by the oxidized regions and thin oxide films are formed on exposed surfaces of the electrode contact regions, the thin semiconductor oxide films are removed simultaneously by immersed etching, and then electrode metal layers are formed thereon. The thickness of the oxide layer on which the electrode metal layers are formed is maintained almost uniform to ensure the isolation effect. Since a buried region in each element region is required only to make partial contact with the contact region at the bottom portion, the integration density of the elements in the integrated circuit can be increased.
