  • Patent number: 5357906
Abstract: A single port, internal liquid heat exchange assembly for heating domestic water from a free-standing, low pressure wood fired boiler. A threaded manifold fastener retains the assembly in suspension within a single access port of a conventional water heater. An elongated manifold contains first and second coaxial flow columns which terminate at exposed inlet and outlet ports and communicate with each other within the manifold. Constructions are disclosed having concentric flow columns, convolute and expandable manifold walls, internal bypass ports, vibration dampeners, multi-ported flow transition zones and which may include a sacrificial anode.

  • Patent number: 5197682
Abstract: Portable tractor, trailer apparatus for shredding varieties of materials, including asphalt, concrete, wood, demolition and landfill debris. A fifth-wheel mounted trailer includes a collection hopper having a hydraulically driven end-wall which directs materials into a cutter-head. The cutter head is indirectly driven by a pair of hydraulic drive motors, transfer belts and tensioned pulleys. A pivoting floor section includes a number of spaced apart rakers determines the size of exhausted particulates. The cutter-head includes teeth which clear an axle space at each sidewall and teeth which distribute materials across the width of the head. The head is removable via sidewall channels provided in the support framework.

  • Patent number: 5121568
Abstract: A multi-section hollow sound chamber containing a plurality of beads and including bore holes or a tubular mounting bore, which is isolated from the sound chamber, for supporting the chamber from a fishing line, wire-form or lure. Associated buoyancy and rotation means facilitate auditory sounds. In various constructions, the chamber parts mount in mated and bonded relation about a hook shank, a wire-form coupling member or a fishing line. Included fins or external grooves facilitate chamber rotation with movement relative to water.

  • Patent number: 5117240
Abstract: A small aperture horn antenna comprising an outer conical shell and interiorly of which are formed at least first and second conically flared, dielectric-coated stages of differing flare angles which are coupled to one another via an intermediate cylindrical stage. The dielectric coating is applied to form a uniformly smooth horn interior surface. Mountable to the antenna input aperture are various reflective and homogeneous dielectric refractive focusing lenses and to the output is a low noise waveguide converter. A remotely controlled, axial mount assembly enclosed in a gas-filled, roof mountable radome is also disclosed. Alternatively, the same antenna geometry may be used to transmit a directive electromagnetic wave.

  • Patent number: 5054090
Abstract: A method and apparatus for parallel processing "live" and pre-recorded "reference" fingerprint data for comparison purposes. An array sensor images a selected portion of a live fingerprint and video means produce corresponding digital live image data. The pre-recorded, multi-pixel reference data and the image data are scanned relative to one another via recirculating First-in-First-Out (FIFO) buffer memories and row and column shift means. Exclusive OR (XOR), summation and accumulation circuitry simultaneously compare the reference and image data over a plurality of correlation cycles and compute a correlation value for each correlation cycle. A microprocessor determines the best correlation value of the reference and image data from a tabular store of correlation values for each correlation cycle relative to a PASS/FAIL threshold.
