  • Patent number: 4423372
Abstract: An instrument for monitoring the hazard arising from electro-magnetic (electric and/or magnetic) radio-frequency fields comprising an electric and/or magnetic field probe, a radio-frequency converter for converting the signals picked up by the probe into continuous current electric signals, a comparator for comparing the continuous current electric signals with predetermined reference values, and output indicators activated by the output signals of the comparator. Preferably the reference values divide the values of the field levels into three contiguous zones, respectively-of insignificant risk, of possible risk and of certain risk.

  • Patent number: 4417612
Abstract: A pocket key holder constructed essentially from three layers of thin flexible material eliminates bulkiness, expensive hardware and noise caused by continual contact of unrestrained loose keys. Ready identification of multiple keys in separated pockets of the holder by sight or by touch is enabled. Convenience of use and compactness are maximized in a soft yielding structure suitable for carrying in any apparel pocket.

  • Patent number: 4417841
Abstract: A loader and transporter for large loads such as cotton modules has a wheel-mounted main frame, which may be self-propelled or of tractor-drawn trailer type, a deck, incorporating a reversible longitudinal conveyor, being connected by a transverse pivotal connection to the main frame. Lifting means are provided for raising and lowering this pivotal connection and the deck and tilting means are provided for tilting the deck so that, when the deck is lowered, it can be tilted from a substantially horizontal low-load travelling position to a position for loading from ground level, and when the deck is raised, it can be tilted from a substantially horizontal high-load travelling position to a position for unloading onto a semi-trailer, for example.

  • Patent number: 4417447
Abstract: The power of a fuel injected internal combustion engine is augmented by forming in the head of the engine piston or pistons a chamber within which superheated steam is generated from cyclically injected water and which also serves as a pre-combustion space. In a preferred embodiment, the piston head has steam channels extending from said chamber through the top face of the piston.

  • Patent number: 4413465
Abstract: A secure positively adjusting and locking buckle for saddle stirrup straps is provided in which the buckle components cannot slide on the strap following proper adjustment. The buckle components cannot be separated and lost. When locked, the buckle has a very compact configuration. It includes a thin depending metal strip sandwiched between strap layers by means of which the stirrup leather can have a permanent twist imparted to it to cause the stirrup to hang properly.

  • Patent number: 4408356
Abstract: A rain coat or jacket includes a lining of foraminous material to which is attached exteriorly in shingled relationship a plurality of horizontal sections of fluid impermeable material such as coated fabric. The lower edges of the shingled sections are tacked to resist being turned up by the wind.

  • Patent number: 4407845
Abstract: A high voltage charge at very low amperage is impressed on a bath of oil or other lubricant in a dielectric header through a submerged electrode. A grounded high speed moving metal strip attracts streams of the charged bath across its width through apertures or slots provided in the header. Pressurized gas jets directed at these streams disperse the streams into a multitude of finer crossing streams which coat the strip completely and evenly. A recovery system for the oil or other lubricant is provided.

  • Patent number: 4400961
Abstract: While liquid coolant in the form of pressurized sprays is being delivered onto the upstream sides of the working rolls in a rolling mill across the width of the moving metal strip, pressurized fluid jets are directed against the opposite end portions of the working rolls outwardly of the longitudinal edges of the strip, said jets being aimed axially outwardly toward the ends of the working rolls and somewhat upwardly and downwardly in relation to the top and bottom faces of the strip. Closely beyond the downstream sides of the working rolls, additional pressurized fluid jets are directed downwardly and upwardly against the moving strip with the air concentrated near its longitudinal edges to dislodge any remaining coolant.

  • Patent number: 4401941
Abstract: A flange and casing insulation testing instrument, comprising a means to apply a small voltage across a pair of insulated pipe flanges or between an insulated pipe and casing in an environment of earth and ground moisture to effect an electrolysis charging between the two components. First and second timers are provided to record the time period required to effect charging to a predetermined level to allow the establishment of a data base relating to the system being monitored. A microammeter provides an indication of the state of the insulation between the elements of the system, i.e. if the flanges or pipe and casing are shorted together, there will be no residual charge.

  • Patent number: 4399903
Abstract: To greatly increase the coin holding capacity of the cash box of one well known product dispenser and to simplify and render more convenient the placement of the cash box in the dispenser, the cash box is restructured to utilize all available space in the dispenser without interfering with or changing in the slightest the operation of the coin mechanism and the associated product dispensing components. In lieu of a lock, the cash box is held securely in its working position by simple spring pressure. The improved cash box is equally adaptable to double or single column product dispensers.
