  • Patent number: 4385411
Abstract: A broom for sweeping floors and the like. The broom has a frame and a handle with straws fixed to one side of the frame and the handle fixed to the side of the frame remote from the straws. The straws terminating in a plane disposed at an acute angle to the handle so that the handle is disposed at an angle equal to the natural angle for sweeping the end of the straw thereby providing a convenient angle for sweeping without unevenly distorting the broom straws.

  • Patent number: 4385429
Abstract: A clutch is disclosed having an input shaft and an output shaft and having alternate pairs of discs interfitting with each other. Half of the discs being attached to the input shaft and half to the output shaft. The discs are knurled on one side in a grooved pattern. The knurling is deeper at the inner radius than at the outer radius so that there is a major restriction to oil flow from the inner radius to the outer radius. The restriction of the grooves insures that the grooves are completely filled with oil during operation of the clutch.

  • Patent number: 4384630
Abstract: A duct system is disclosed for increasing the efficiency of a vehicle by decreasing the air resistance of the vehicle. The system utilizes a ducting system with a cowling at the front end and the back to equalize air pressure and to decrease turbulence in areas surrounding the vehicle. An engine driven fan provides air flow to equalize the air pressure in the ducts.

  • Patent number: 4384832
Abstract: A rotary engine having two opposite rotating rotors forming a substantial part of a toroidal chamber such that the toriodal chamber is parted into two lateral parts formed by an outer rotor having a disk-like part forming one side of the chamber and a lateral flange forming the outside and an inner rotor having a disk like part and a center hub forming the inside of the chamber, the rotors each having half cylinder shaped piston pockets which rotatably receive half cylinder shaped pistons that are rotatably supported on their rotors. The pistons are rotated in the same direction with respect to each other and are carried around the toroidal chamber by the rotors as they rotate in opposite directions on the rotors forming an expansion chamber between the pistons as they rotate. The pistons are rotated by stationary gears and the pistons pass each other in the expansion chamber twice on each rotation of the engine. The axis of rotation of the pistons is parallel to the axis of rotation of the rotors.

  • Patent number: 4383400
Abstract: A brushing machine for grapevines is disclosed made up of rotating brushes supported on a frame that is supported on a tractor. Each brushing mechanism has several brushes with radially extending bristles rotatably supported on a vertically and horizontally adjustable frame. The brushes are individually driven and pass along both sides of a grape trellis. The frame supporting the axles of the brushes may be swung to adjust the angle of the brushes to the ground for any particular tractor speed, so that as the tractor moves forward and the brushes rotate, the resultant motion relative to the trellis of the tips of the brush straws is in a vertical direction.

  • Patent number: 4383145
Abstract: A switch having a plate like matrix with laterally spaced longitudinally extending bores extending from one end of the plate to the other and wires resting in the bores with bare parts of the wires extending through the bores and insulating parts of the wires received in notches at one end of the plate. The plate has openings in one side communicating with the bare wires so that a slider sliding on the plate engages the wires through the openings forming contact with the wires and connecting the wires together at the proper positions of the slider thereby providing a switch for electrically connecting the wires together at selected positions of the slider on the plate.

  • Patent number: 4380759
Abstract: An apparatus to alert a deaf person made up of an alarm device such as a smoke detector adapted to vibrate when actuated by smoke and a transmitter having a vibration sensor connected to the transmitter. The vibration sensor is supported in engagement with the smoke detector and adapted to sense the vibrations of the smoke detector and to transmit a signal to a remotely located receiver. The receiver has a vibrating reed with a tacticle member on its end for engaging a person to alert him when the receiver causes the reed to be vibrated.

  • Patent number: 4348951
Abstract: A cheese press having a platen is disclosed. The platen is supported by springs that are held in prestressed condition by stops so that the springs will deflect when a pressure of predetermined amount is exerted on the cheese, thus limiting the pressure on the springs to a predetermined amount depending on the strength of the springs selected. The springs can be changed to weaker or stronger springs, depending on the pressure desired.

  • Patent number: 4346547
Abstract: A mower having a rectangular platform and downwardly extending skirts on the sides of the platform, spaced upwardly extending columns on the platform, an engine supported on the platform in columns. A belt tightener arm is pivoted around a fourth column and a third pulley is supported on the arm. A threaded bolt pulls the belt tightener toward the belt thereby tightening it. Two rear wheels are supported on two wheel support levers, each of the rear wheels being supported on the distal end of one of the wheel support levers which are pivoted to the skirt of the platform. The end of the wheel support lever remote from the wheel is adjustable up and down to raise or lower the wheel. The front wheels are mounted as casters attached to upwardly and forwardly extending arms that are attached to the platform, and a drilled cylinder extends downwardly from the distal end of the arm. A shaft of the caster extends up through the hollow cylinder and has an axially threaded member holding it in place.
