Abstract: A makeup compact base has a frame or insert secured thereto. The frame features flexible downward wings having retaining ribs across the lower ends thereof. A cosmetic tray may have a top flange adapted to sit in the frame, and complimenting grooves on the outside of the tray snappingly receive the ribs so that normally the tray is held snugly down inside the frame. The compact cover is hinged and is shaped in a portion adjacent the hinge so that when the compact is forced open beyond its normal open position said portion forces the tray up out of its frame to make it available for replacement.
Abstract: A tubular insert is adapted to be secured into an opening in the vessel and is formed with an internally threaded section adapted to receive a closure. The closure is a subassembly which includes a core hosuing having a threaded section threadedly engaging the insert and an internal threaded section and formed with a valve seat at its lower end. A core body is threadedly disposed in the housing and a valve element engages the seat with a compression spring inbetween the body and valve element. A stop is provided on the insert and retaining means are provided on the housing so that when the core housing is unscrewed, it is loosely retained in the insert indicating to everyone that the vessel is depressurized and the metal of the vessel can be heated and melted without any fear of explosion.
Abstract: The fixture or dowel pin has an axial opening including progressively smaller tapered sections alternating with progressively smaller cylindrical threaded sections. Screws having corresponding tapered tops and threaded sections fit respectively into the sections of the body and, after the pin is inserted in the openings of two plates to be immobilized, the respective screws are tightened to expand the pin body in zones outward from the respective screws and immobilize the pin and plates surrounding the zones.
Abstract: A mascara container is provided with a stirrer comprising an oblong frame having side elements spaced inward from the container wall. The spacing permits working of the fluid adjacent the stirrer blades against the stationary fluid adhering to the wall of the container, such working and related shear makes the fluid less viscous so that it flows downward in the container.
Abstract: A cosmetic container comprising a tubular base having an internally threaded lower section and an internally smooth upper section mates with a tubular rotatable sleeve extending up from the base. A tubular telescoping screw assembly has one part secured to the base and one part secured to a pomade cup keyed for rotation with the sleeve. A downward tab is formed integrally with the sleeve and has an outward nib on its lower end which presses against the smooth inner surface of the upper section of the base. The nib exerts a frictional drag on the rotation of the sleeve with respect to the base to give the operation of the container a silky "feel".

Abstract: A container-closure assembly comprises a container molded of relatively soft plastic and a closure cap molded of relatively hard plastic and having a top wall and a continuous side wall. Threads are formed on both the finish of the container and inward on the side wall of the cap. The threads on the cap comprise three threaded segments spaced about the inner circumference of the side wall. The segments include an inward upwardly sloping rib, the upper surface of which is formed with a plurality of wedge-shaped teeth. In use, the closure is screwed on to the top of the container finish and the teeth dig onto the underside of the threads on the finish causing the instantaneous elastic deformation of the plastic of the finish to anchor the cap against removal.

Abstract: A nail filer comprises a generally cylindrical housing containing an electric motor and a power source, preferably dry cell batteries. The housing may have an on-off switch and a safety switch. Connected to the motor outside the housing is the end of a filing drum of different degees of roughness in segments therealong. A cover, which is essentially cup-shaped, fits over the drum and its end provides a bearing for the distal end of the drum. The cover is of irregular wall shape so that its exterior is oblong. Peripheral slots are formed in the cover to space the finger from the drum so that the sides of the nail may be filed off closer than the center tip of the nail. In a preferred embodiment the drum is formed with valleys, also roughened, and additional slots in the cover align with the valleys for the purpose of filing nails of longer length, using the cover again as a variable spacer.
Abstract: A structural assembly comprises a bar joist having ano utward flange along its base. Expanded metal lath is held in position agains the bars and above the flange by attachment clips. The attachment clips each comprise a U-shaped base which pinches the flange, a stem to hold the lath in place and a perpendicular end point which pokes through an opening in the lath to stabilize the clip. Finally, a thick layer of cementitious material adheres to the lath in the area of the bars and flange.
Abstract: Process involves treating organs by applying a magnetic field by means of an annular coil surrounding the organ, the coil being energized by a pure DC voltage having a rectangular wave form pulsing at the rate of 1-30 CPS. The invention also includes an apparatus comprising a body support encompassed by an annular coil energized as above. The coil is mounted on a carriage running on tracks adjacent the body support.
Abstract: A candle is molded in a transparent enclosure which doubles as a retailing container. The enclosure comprises a mold panel having a shaped recess with a sprue passage, and a closure panel. Wick holders may be provided in the enclosure on opposite ends of the recess. The panels may be held together during molding and thereafter by snap-fastener-type elements formed on the panels. The closure panel may have a recess aligned with the recess in the mold panel to make a candle product having a desired contour on both sides. A display graphics card may be held between the panels. In a simpler modification the open transparent mold panel is horizontally disposed without the closure panel. Its recess is fitted with a wick, and wax is poured in and allowed to set. The panel is then secured to a "blister" card.
Abstract: A container transport and manipulator includes opening and closing beams mounting therealong spaced supports for engaging the ends of parallel horizontally disposed containers, and a swing platform, timed with the supports, for carrying the containers from one support to the next. The final support at the labeling or printing station rocks or manipulates the containers about the axis of curvature of the curved surface on which a label or printing is applied so that the labeling or printing can be smoothly and quickly done in reliable fashion. The final support is quickly set up and changed for different-shaped containers.
Abstract: Within a cylindrical barrel to be secured to the water faucet are a basket surrounding a mixing chamber, a diffuser overlying the mixing chamber and forming a diffusing chamber having peripheral openings for flow of water to the mixing chamber, and a pressure-compensating flow controller plug having a control opening for admitting water from said faucet to the diffusing chamber. The flow controller plug has a reduced lower section defining a head and the diffuser has an upward annular flange defining a socket. When the head and socket are engaged, the plug and diffuser are held together as an assembly. The margin of the upper section of the plug forms a seal between the barrel and faucet.
Abstract: Prophylactic device has a ribbed exterior surface, the ribs being generally parallel and commencing adjacent the distal or closed end of the device, each at an angle of about 10.degree. to the longitudinal and arcing away from the longitudinal to terminate adjacent the proximate or open end at an angle of about 44.degree. to the longitudinal. The purpose of the ribs is to heighten stimulation of the woman.
Abstract: The directional control valve housing in a squeeze bag resuscitator includes a duck-bill element which permits inhaling from the bag as the duck-bill opens, and spontaneous exhaling as the periphery of duck-bill is pushed away from its seat. An adjustable spring urges the periphery against its seat with force established by the PEEP setting. The housing is in two screwed-together parts and the PEEP setting is effected by screwing the parts inward or outward.
Abstract: A pair of superposed inclined feed tracks have slots along their upper and lower walls respectively. Elongate gates with inturned tips are disposed along the tracks and pivoted intermediate their ends on pins. A yoke having an axis intermediate the two pins has outward parallel fingers which are disposed outward of the pins, and as the yoke is turned by a rotary solenoid, first in one direction and then the other, the fingers engage the gates on opposite sides of their pivot pins oppositely and alternately to alternately open and close the respective tracks. A reciprocating pusher pushes the parts into the working ends of the upper and lower dies and a settable counter counts the strokes of the pusher. A circuit causes activation of the solenoid to shift the gates to switch the feed from one feed track to the other track when the counter registers up to the set number of strokes.
Abstract: A conventional baseboard radiator has a flat cover, an open metal box about the same width as the cover is supported on the cover in heat-conducting fashion. Support clips hook over the rear panel of the box and extend between the baseboard radiator and the wall to hold the box in position. A coarse screen is stretched across the top of the box and over the top of the ends. Tabs are struck out from the end panels of the box and are received by openings in the mesh to hold the screen in place.
