Abstract: The present invention is a chewing gum base composition and a method for making same which includes an elastomer and a resin prepared in the absence of rosin esters and terpene components which includes an elastomer component raised to a compatibilization temperature for addition of a compatibilization component. The composition includes a high melting point compatibilization component added under low shear mixing conditions at a temperature sufficient to masticate the elastomer for forming a substantially homogeneous mass with the resin component. The compatibilization component is capable of effectuating dissociation of the elastomer under the conditions of temperature and mixing for forming the substantially homogeneous mass. Finally, a resin component is added also under low shear mixing conditions and mildly elevated temperatures until a substantially homogenous gum base mass is formed.
Abstract: An apparatus for wrapping soft chewing gum comprises a turret having means to cut the gum into relatively thin rectangular shaped pieces. Operatively associated with the turret are means to hold the shaped pieces of gum thereon for transport to a position where each individually shaped piece is placed into a nest on a wrapping tray with a wrapper located therebetween. During placement, a flat side of the shaped piece of gum is urged against the flat bottom of the nest. The apparatus further comprises means to complete wrapping the wrapper around the piece of gum.
Abstract: A chewing gum base composition containing in weight percent about 0.5 to about 20% elastomer; about 10% to about 25% of a polyvinyl acetate having a medium molecular weight of about 35,000 to 50,000; about 4.5% to about 10.0% acetylated monoglyceride; about 6% to about 10% of a wax having a melting point below about 60.degree. C.; and remaining amounts of material selected from the group consisting of elastomer solvent, emulsifiers, plasticizers, fillers and mixtures thereof.
Abstract: According to this invention a means of staking is provided in which a portion of the stake near the bottom is subjected to shearing and cold-forming to form a skirt. The skirt provides a locking assembly for the component parts of the razor head without chamfering the area around the receiving orifices. The locking is also done without the possibility of bending, deforming or shattering the individual stakes themselves.
Abstract: A dosing disc capsule machine has a tamping pin carried in a mounting block for extending into openings in a dosing disc to compact powder in the openings to form a plug. The plug is then transferred into a capsule body by an ejection pin. In accordance with the invention, a load cell is positioned above the tamping pin in the mounting block for measuring the compressive force exerted on the powder by the tamping pin. The load cell occupies the space normally occupied by the overload spring in such dosing disc capsule machines. Thus, modification of the tamping pin is not necessary, and the simple substitution of parts makes it possible to interchange the instrumentation from one machine to another. Further, the modifications are minor and do not affect the normal operation of the machine.

Abstract: An improved denture cleansing composition is prepared comprising a pre-granulation of anhydrous perborate using polytetrafluorethylene as a compacting aid, in combination with a monopersulfate. The composition can be tableted on a high speed tableting press and packaged using conventional foil packaging equipment without tablet fracture or chipping.
Abstract: A feeding apparatus for feeding a material from a material supply to a further apparatus, particularly a packaging apparatus. The apparatus comprises a storage buffer for storing an amount of the material, a first feed arrangement for feeding the material from the material supply to the storage buffer, and a second feed arrangement for feeding the material from the storage buffer to the further apparatus. The storage buffer comprises a plurality of movable rollers and a plurality of fixed rollers disposed above the movable rollers. The material is wound alternately between the fixed and movable rollers. The movable rollers are movable toward the fixed rollers by the tension in the material, and are movable away from the fixed rollers under the influence of gravity. This enables the material to be fed continuously to the further apparatus during an interruption of the material supply.
Abstract: According to this invention a flexible razor head is provided which features a flexible cap and blade support portion with the blade support portion featuring a segmented guard bar with the spaces separating the segment correlating to the spaces or areas of reduced thickness in the cap. Corrugations present in the blade support portions enable the blade support portion to lengthen in response to shaving forces.
Abstract: This invention relates to reduced base-content chewing gum compositions containing an anesthetic active. These compositions release sufficient amounts of the anesthetic to provide an anesthetic effect in the mount and throat areas without significant bitterness or off-note taste. Hexylresourcinol is the preferred anesthetic.
Abstract: According to this invention a lubricating strip comprising a honeycomb structure of polystyrene and a water soluble leachable shaving aid of high molecular weight polyethylene oxide is molded in situ on a razor cap made of thermoplastic material which has been previously injection molded.

Abstract: The present invention relates to an ingestible aggregate comprising a pre-swelled substantially anhydrous hydrocolloid and a substrate. More particularly this invention relates to an aggregate having as a substrate a dietary fiber and/or drug wherein the composition can be administered in a therapeutically effective amount. Hydrocolloids useful include natural and modified gums, celluloses, modified celluloses, pectins, mucillages, modified starches, noncellulose polysaccharides, algal polysaccharides and mixtures thereof. The aggregate should be in the size range of about 4 to about 70 U.S. mesh. The unpleasant taste and mouthfeel of the fiber and/or drug is effectively masked and substantial hydration is delayed until the composition reaches the stomach. The compositions are substantially more platable, devoid of graininess, bitterness or fibrous texture. The pleasant taste of the composition encourages patient compliance with their fiber or drug therapy.
