The control panel includes a processor (70) in operative connection with a data store (72). The data store includes data representative of inputs provided by authorized users who are authorized to operate the depository. Data concerning authorized users is delivered to the data store from a remote computer (174). Data concerning deposits made into the depository is stored in the data store and provided to the remote computer as well as to authorized service persons for purposes of auditing deposits made into the depository.

    Abstract: An automated transaction machine includes a sheet dispensing path verification system and method. The machine includes a sheet handling mechanism (17, 192) therein, including a sheet transport path (42). Devices for sensing and moving sheets are positioned adjacent to the transport path. The machine includes a control circuitry (44) which controls the various devices in response to inputs by customers. Upon receiving a transaction request from a customer which requires the dispensing of sheets, the machine verifies whether the sheet transport path to the customer is unobstructed. A test sheet is sent along the transport path to a delivery position. At least one sensor is used to verify whether the test sheet may successfully travel through the transport path. After verification that the transport path is unobstructed the sheet dispensing transaction is completed by moving further sheets to the delivery position.

    Abstract: A transaction apparatus (10) includes a multifunction card (12) and a portable terminal (14). The multifunction card includes a programmable memory (18) and a magnetic stripe (16) thereon. The programmable memory on the card is used to store indicia corresponding to account data which is input to the memory by reading with the terminal magnetic stripe data from a plurality of conventional magnetic stripe cards. The programmable memory further includes data representative of cash value as well as instructions, prompt messages and icons presented in conducting transactions. A user is enabled to operate the apparatus to select one of the accounts stored in memory, and to write account data corresponding to the selected account to the magnetic stripe of the card. The user is also enabled to use the apparatus to enter visible indicia such as bar codes and to selectively reproduce the bar codes on the display of the apparatus.

The dispenser may be moved outward through an opening (26) in the chest by extending the slides. The dispenser may be disengaged from the slides through use of a portable carrier (50). The portable carrier has a lifting device which is operated to lift the dispenser relative to the slides enabling disengagement therefrom. The dispenser is then movable away from the chest for servicing on the carrier. The dispenser may be re-engaged with the slides after servicing using the portable carrier.

    Abstract: A system and method for electrically isolating conduit connections in a gas line system for residential, commercial or industrial applications. Gas line conduit of standard configuration is cut to length and upset at one end to create an annular flange of increased diameter, which then is machined to a desired configuration having annular ridges and flat and tapered surfaces. The other end of the conduit is machined in a standard thread configuration. The flanged portion of the conduit is then placed in an injection molding machine and receives a non-conductive elastomeric, molded seal thereover which includes a tubular pilot portion. A coupling nut slipped over the conduit may then join the conduit to conventional gas line valves, meters or the like in a completely electrically insulated connection.

A receiver (814) includes a radiation sensitive element (830) which is also transversely elongated relative to the sheet path. Sheets passing between the emitter and the receiver cause variations in the amount of radiation reaching the receiver. The transversely elongated surface of the sheet through which the transmission of radiation is sense enables accurately distinguishing single sheets from double sheets.

    Abstract: A clutch arrangement for a multi-spindle machine includes a starting clutch 12 and a machine brake clutch 14 positioned on a starting clutch drive shaft 16. A high speed clutch 18 and a snubbing clutch 22 are positioned on a long worm drive shaft 20. All clutches are pneumatically operated by solenoid valves 40, 42, 44 and 46 and electrically actuated by electrical circuit 60. When the multi-spindle machine shifts from a high speed to a low speed, the present invention activates the machine brake clutch 14 and snubbing clutch 22 for a predetermined time period to cause the drive train gears to slow down allowing synchronous meshing with the low speed drive train of the multi-spindle machine to enable a reduction in machine cycle time.
