  • Patent number: 8220620
Abstract: The invention provides a load-carrying conveyor chain that can be bent backward, realizing spatial three-dimensional conveyance, and can be hooked deeply by sprocket teeth, thus rarely causing jump of the teeth. The chain is constructed by endlessly connecting link bodies each having a head composed of a hollow cylindrical portion defined by walls having elongated pin holes extending circumferentially of the cylindrical portion, and a pair of legs respectively having pin holes by inserting a rotatable bearing body having a through pin hole into the cylindrical portion and by inserting connecting pins into the pin holes of the legs, the elongated pin holes of the head and the through pin hole of the bearing body while disposing the head of one link between the pair of legs of the contiguous other link. One end of the bearing body is extended to project out of the cylindrical portion and the bearing body has a flange at the projecting end.

  • Patent number: 8219057
Abstract: The application relates to a method for operation of an active antenna array and to an active antenna system. The active antenna system has a signal processing unit and an active antenna array adapted to be operated with a main antenna pattern correlated to a main receive beam and with at least one test antenna pattern correlated to a test receive beam having an orientation different from the main receive beam. A main radio frequency signal is received based on the main antenna pattern and a test radio frequency signal is received based on the test antenna pattern. The main radio frequency signal comprises communications traffic. Performance of the main receive beam is assessed based on the main radio frequency signal and performance of the test receive beam is assessed based on the test radio frequency signal. The main antenna pattern is adjusted based on a comparison of the performance of the main receive beam and test receive beam.

  • Patent number: 8210885
Abstract: A variable rating impeller (10) for the pump of a waterjet unit that is rotatably driven by an engine to generate a high velocity jet stream. The impeller (10) having a hub (12) mountable to a rotating shaft through which an input power is transmitted by the engine, and a plurality of blades (18) spaced about the periphery of the hub. The blades (18) have a primary profile that defines the primary rating of the impeller, and a trailing portion (28) of each blade has resilient flexibility relative to the primary profile such that the trailing portion will progressively flex under hydrodynamic load to alter the profile of the blades to progressively lower the rating of the impeller (10) with increase in engine speed.

  • Patent number: 8206665
Abstract: A cap for a microtube, which can be automatically aligned by an alignment plate for insertion in a correct orientation into the open end of the microtube held in a micro tube rack. The plate has partitions in a grid which produces a matrix of cells having a pitch defined by the spacing between the partitions. The cap 100 has an plug portion 120, which is adapted to be inserted into the open end of the microtube which is held in a rack having a matrix of wells congruent with the matrix of cells in the alignment plate. A grip portion 110 of the cap has an outer circumferential diameter larger than an outer circumferential diameter of the plug portion 120, so that when the cap is inserted in the microtube, the grip portion protrudes from the open end of the microtube. The entire length of the cap 100 is longer than the pitch of the alignment plate and shorter than twice the pitch.

  • Patent number: 8173005
Abstract: This invention relates to hydrogen production using combined heat pumps and a thermochemical cycle. Low grade waste heat can be upgraded to higher temperatures via salt/ammonia and/or MgO/vapor chemical heat pumps, which release heat at successively higher temperatures through exothermic reactions, or vapor compression heat pumps that upgrade thermal energy with phase change fluids. Using this new approach, low grade heat or waste heat from nuclear or other industrial sources can be transformed to a useful energy supply for thermochemical hydrogen production.
