  • Patent number: 8350811
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for enabling scrolling on a display in a first direction by turning a scroll wheel of a computer mouse without the need to lift a finger from the scroll wheel during scrolling. This is obtained by switching the mode of operation of the scroll wheel from a first mode of operation, mode 1, to a second mode of operation, mode 2, by performing an action, such as holding down a specific key. The program procedure for mode 2 is such that when the scroll wheel is first turned upon switching to mode 2, a first direction of turning is de-fined. Continued turning of the scroll wheel in either the first direction of turning or another direction of turning will cause a scrolling on the display in the first direction.

  • Patent number: 8328217
Abstract: Conventional linkages between bicycle handlebar-mounted controls and rear brakes and gears are unable to accommodate unlimited rotation of the handlebars as is required on some so-called “freestyle” bicycles. A prior attempt to solve the problem employs a linkage comprising a bearing having two parts that are relatively rotatable about an axis. However this proposal is unable to handle situations where there are two or more mechanisms to be controlled e.g. a rear brake and a gear. The problem is solved by using multiple bearings (15, 16, 17) that share a common axis (X-X) of rotation but are located at different radial positions with respect to the axis. This avoids interference between the different linkages and makes it possible to locate the linkages around a stem on which the front wheel fork of the bicycle is mounted. A possible suitable location may be within a head tube of the bicycle frame. The invention is not limited to use with bicycles and can be employed in robotic and other machines.

  • Patent number: 8263902
Abstract: The invention relates to a laser scribing system (10) for structuring substrates, said system being characterized in that the planar rotor (56) together with the laser device (60) has a mass that is essentially less than the mass of the table (20) and the substrate (30) such that the machining speed is increased, and the substrate arranged on the table (20) is still during the machining, or moves in a direction at a constant speed vSubstrat such that vibrations are reduced and the precision of the scribing traces increased. Furthermore, other planar rotors (56) can be mounted with a laser device (60) without changing the structure of the machine such that the productivity is easily increased. The laser light (65) is also guided, by means of optical fibers, as close as possible to the machining point, reducing the free length of the light beam (65) such that the adjustment requirements for the optical-mechanical components are reduced and the system is more robust.
