  • Patent number: 4415850
Abstract: A monitoring system for continuously monitoring the ground conductor of an electrical cable having power conductors and a pilot wire in addition to the ground conductor. An a.c. test signal is connected onto a loop comprised of the ground conductor and pilot wire and a terminating impedance. A current transformer samples the test signal on the ground conductor and checks its magnitude. By making the transformer impedance considerably lower than the mutual inductance between the ground conductor and pilot wire, large, expensive blocking impedances are not required to prevent the test signal from following sneak paths from the test loop to earth ground.

  • Patent number: 4396658
Abstract: A novel polymer alloy coating is provided consisting essentially of polyphenylene sulfide and an amount of polyimide. The polyimide is produced by the crosslinking and curing of an acetylene terminated aromatic polyimide oligomer resin. The amount of polyimide utilized is sufficient to enhance the adhesiveness of the polyphenylene sulfide to a metal substrate without substantially changing the melt flow properties, chemical resistance and thermal stability of the polyphenylene sulfide. A polymer alloy resin composition is also provided for application to the metal substrate to produce the polymer alloy coating. The novel polymer alloy coating is particularly suitable for coating pipes, particularly pipe couplings for oil and gas well production pipes which are exposed to extreme temperatures, pressures and corrosive environments.

  • Patent number: 4378542
Abstract: An electromagnetic contactor having a box shaped frame DC solenoid, a plunger with one end attached to a stamped metal bracket which, in turn, is attached to a pusher assembly. The pusher assembly includes the movable contacts. As the solenoid plunger is extended and retracted, the contacts associated with the assembly will engage and disengage in response thereto. The solenoid is mounted in a base and is biased up against the carrier by a curved spring washer. The coil terminals are part of the solenoid and are trapped or contained between guide walls of the base to provide strain relief. The coil terminals are not rigidly attached to the base so as to allow the solenoid to float and to prevent fatigue of the terminals.
