    Abstract: A pull-to-turn rotary switch having an outer sleeve shaped housing into which a sleeve adapter is inserted and aligned by means of mutual detents. The sleeve adapter is provided with a washer shaped bottom plate which divides the housing into two chambers, one of which contains a biasing spring and a dual stop means and the other contains the switch contacts and a contact plate or rotor driven by the innermost end of the actuating shaft to which it is slidably keyed. The dual stop means includes two separate and distinct detent discs each cooperating with a separate and distinct detent stop pin or pins.

    Abstract: A method is provided for making a filter cell comprised of two cellulosic fiber containing filter media having a sealed periphery. The method comprises compressing the peripheries of each filter media, to form a flange. The media are then aligned to provide intimate face-to-face contact between the flanges. A spacer means is provided between the media to cause each to dish outwardly from the other media. The two media and spacer means are then placed into a mold surrounding the flanges. The mold has a means for providing a recompression force to the inner portions of the flanges. A thermoplastic polymer is then injected into the mold to form a seal around the flanges. The recompression force is sufficient to maintain the flanges in intimate face-to-face contact with each other and to prevent seepage of the polymer between the flanges when the polymer is injected into the mold.

    Abstract: The invention relates to an adapter for permitting a snap-in insertion of a small slide switch into an aperture in a mounting panel. The adaptor is a molded plastic member comprised of a rectangular frame having downwardly extending legs at each corner. Each leg has two outwardly and upwardly extending arms at each side of the leg. The free ends of the first arms at each end of the aperture are resilient and capture a tab on a metal housing of the slide switch thereby releasably holding the switch to the adapter. The free ends of the second arms at each end of the aperture face the periphery of the aperture and snap under the edge of the aperture to hold the plastic adapter in the frame.

    Abstract: A pair of generally parallel spaced plastic arms are pivoted to each other at their central portions by interleaved pairs of tabs having a pivot pin extending therethrough. A light coil spring on the pivot pin biases one pair of opposite ends of the arms into light engagement for clipping them on to an ear lobe. The one pair of opposite ends have a pair of hollow bosses formed thereon, with heart beat sensors positioned in each boss. Electric wires connected to the sensors extend therefrom along the arms through channels formed in the arms. The pivot pin has heads formed at its opposite ends. Apertures are formed in these heads and an elongated strip of plastic material has its opposite ends positioned in the apertures so that the remainder of the strip of material comprises an open loop for hanging the arms off the ear of the lobe to which the arms are clipped.

    Abstract: A microprocessor based sequence controller is disclosed in connection with a soup and beverage vending machine, in which sequences of functions required in the operation of the vending machine are under the control of the microprocessor unit. The microprocessor unit has two separate storage sections, one of which is not alterable and contains the basic program for the vending machine. The other section is alterable and contains adjustable modifications of the basic program. The alterable storage section is modifiable through the use of a separate service module, which is not normally connected with the sequence controller during normal vending operations. The start and stop times of each function of the sequence of functions are independently modifiable, and an interlock is provided to assure against unintentional modification of the start and stop times. The integrity of the stored modifications is automatically checked periodically, and the stored modifications are ignored if the integrity check fails.

The molded composition adheres excellently to molding surfaces and dries to give an essentially crack-free refractory shape, useful as thermal insulation at temperatures up to 1300.degree. C. The composition may optionally include hollow plastic or ceramic spheres.

    Abstract: An improved throw-away, or single use, adaptor particularly useful with depressed center grinding wheels is described. The adaptor comprises a hollow mandrel having an internal threaded portion for attaching the adaptor to the shaft of a grinding machine. The hollow mandrel has a saucer-shaped disc portion extending axially from the outer portion of the mandrel. The saucer-shaped disc portion has a concave surface and a convex surface. The concave portion is equipped with a plurality of internal rib members and has a flange around the periphery thereof to contact the side of a grinding wheel. The flange portion has a plurality of protrusions, or bosses, thereon adapted to be received in corresponding orifices in the grinding wheel. In operation, as the grinding wheel contacts a work piece, the torque, or stress, is directly imparted to the adaptor, as the adaptor is threadably attached to the shaft of the grinding wheel.
