Abstract: This invention relates to drain cleaning compositions characterized by a pelletized form. Each pellet formed comprises aluminum; potassium or sodium nitrate; a binding material having a melting point of from about 37.degree. C. to about 67.degree. C. selected from the group consisting of polymers of polyethylene glycol, having a molecular weight of from about 3000 to about 20,000; polymers of ethylene oxide, having a molecular weight of from about 400,000 to about 2,000,000; aliphatic oxyethylated straight chain fatty alcohols having a molecular weight of about 260 to about 265 and containing about 80%, by weight, ethylene oxide; fatty acids having a carbon chain length of from about 10 to about 18 carbon atoms; alkali metal salts of gluconic acid; and mixtures thereof; at least about 1%, by weight, of an alkali metal hydroxide; and a sufficient amount of an additional compatible alkaline ingredient, whereby the total alkaline concentration present, expressed as sodium oxide, is at least about 11%, by weight.
Abstract: A foot massager and bath is disclosed in which either a massage or a heated bath or both are optionally available to the user. The bath is maintained in temperature by an element protruded through the wall of the unit to provide a metal-to-bath heat exchange and is shielded from the user's feet by a grille portion of the unit. A vibrating massage is provided by an electrical vibrator mounted on a plane above the plane of the deck upon which the feet are rested and which is coupled to the deck at a point substantially below the foot plane to provide a variable-direction motion of the foot plane area and a consequent variation in the vibrations imparted to the feet. A variable-capacity mount is disclosed which supports the unit on a surface by means of a variable-contoured elastomeric support under differing weight circumstances to provide increased stiffness in the support to accommodate an increased load from within the unit.
Abstract: N-mono (alkoxymethyl)phenobarbitals wherein the alkoxy group has 1 to 4 carbon atoms are disclosed. The compounds are prepared by reacting the dialkali metal salt of thiophenobarbital with chloromethyl alkyl ether followed by treating the resultant N,S-bis(alkoxymethyl)thiophenobarbital with an oxidizing agent. The compounds are useful as anticonvulsant agents.
Abstract: An autoxidizable hair preparation capable of coloring hair when applied thereto and exposed to the atmosphere comprising N,N-bis(2-hydroxyethyl)-p-phenylenediamine or an acid addition salt thereof and a triol selected from the group consisting of 1,2,4-benzenetriol and 2,4,5-trihydroxytoluene. The preparation is applied at multiple spaced intervals of time until the desired color build-up is attained. Also prepares the composition by preforming a solution of the triol by storing the corresponding triacetate in acid solution for a period of time then adding the N,N-bis(2-hydroxyethyl)-p-phenylenediamine.

Abstract: A liquid applicator which comprises a liquid storage container fitted with a shaped applicator means that is made of a non-flexible, non-deformable, sintered, porous synthetic plastic resin having a controlled porosity and having omni-directional interconnecting pores.
Abstract: Various derivatives of barbituric acid and of diphenylhydantoin are described in which alkoxymethyl or benzyloxymethyl groups are attached to the nitrogen atoms of the rings. Therapeutic compositions containing these compounds and their use as anticonvulsant agents are described.
Abstract: A knee immobilizer having a rigid U-shaped shell to fit around the back of the leg extending from well above to well below the knee, the axes of the upper and lower portions being at an angle of 170.degree.. A soft cushion larger and much thicker than the shell lies between the shell and the leg. A rigid front thigh plate and a rigid front shin plate each have soft cushions and are attached to the shell by straps which pass through slots in the shell and plates and are provided with hook and loop fasteners.
Abstract: Drain cleaning compositions, especially effective in dissolving soap curd, are provided which comprise in aqueous solution an ammonium, alkylamine, hydroxy-alkylamine, or mixtures thereof, salt of nitrilotriacetic acid, N-2-hydroxyethylimino diacetic acid, an alkylene polyamine polycarboxylic acid, or mixtures thereof, and an ammonium, alkylamine, hydroxy-alkylamine, or mixtures thereof, salt of one or more anionic surfactants, wherein the alkylamine and hydroxy-alkylamine have a chain length of from 1 to 5 carbon atoms, the composition is substantially free of alkali metal ions, and the alkylene polyamine polycarboxylic acid has the formula(HOOCCH.sub.2).sub.2 N--[(CH.sub.2).sub.x NCH.sub.2 COOH].sub.Y --CH.sub.2 COOHwherein x and y may each independently be from 1 to 4.
Abstract: There is disclosed an improved process for the preparation of 1,3-bis(alkoxyalkyl)- and 1,3-bis(benzyloxyalkyl)-5,5-disubstituted barbituric acid derivatives, such as 1,3-bis(methoxymethyl)phenobarbital, by reacting e.g., phenobarbital, preferably, a multiple molar excess of dimethoxymethane and an at least equimolar amount of anhydrous stannic chloride based on the amount of phenobarbital.
Abstract: A ball type roll-on liquid dispenser provided with a generally spherical ball and relatively small supporting nibs supporting the ball for rotation. A restricted passageway is provided between the ball and neck of the container to meter the liquid contents of the container. A thin retaining ring for retaining the ball is also provided as well as a closure liner adapted to apply variable pressure to the thin retaining ring to control the flow of liquid from the container and to completely seal the container from the atmosphere.
