  • Patent number: 8062216
Abstract: An otoscope kit has an otoscope with an attachable ear wax removal device for ear wax removal. A fluid dispensing means which is attachable to the otoscope for ejecting fluid through said ear speculum into the ear canal, the fluid dispensing means being mounted on the gripping body of the otoscope. The fluid dispensing means preferably includes a housing, a fluid supply and dispensing container, a pump, a tube connected to the fluid supply and dispensing container at one end extending and connected to a connector on a speculum cover. The fluid dispensing means is controlled by an actuator switch that is mounted in an opening of said housing wherein the actuation of the fluid dispensing means occurs without blocking the line of sight through the viewing means. The fluid dispensing means further can have a fluid recovery means having a vacuum pump, a fluid and debris recovery container and a tube for connecting the fluid recovery container to a second connector in the speculum cover.

  • Patent number: 8062017
Abstract: A splice bar for a tire tread die designed for providing a narrow strip of electrically conductive rubber extending from a lower under tread to the surface of the outer tread by positioning a slotted chimney block in a the outer tread rubber passage and having a passage between the chimney slot and the under tread rubber passage specially shaped for improving the flow of rubber during extrusion. This passage is essentially straight for guiding a strip-shaped stream of rubber of the under tread to the chimney slot. The passage intersects the rear surface of the splice bar to form a generally rectangular shaped corridor extending from the rear surface to the chimney slot.

  • Patent number: 8057411
Abstract: A method and device for treating wounds 10 of tissue 11 is disclosed. The method has the steps of applying a porous pad 12 upon the treatment surface of the tissue 11; covering the treatment surface and the porous pad 12 with a foil or sealing cover 14 for isolating the treatment surface and the porous pad 12 from the atmosphere; filling the volume under the foil or sealing cover 14 with fluid 100 and purging air from the volume under the foil or sealing cover 14 thereby fluid 100 saturating said porous pad 12: applying an acoustic shock wave treatment through the foil or sealing cover 14 or surrounding tissue 11 or a combination thereof sending acoustic shock waves 200 through the volume to the treatment surface and underlying tissue 11 and thereafter pulling a vacuum to create a sub-atmospheric pressure under the foil or sealing cover 14 wherein the combination of the applied acoustic shock waves 200 and sub-atmospheric conditions stimulates healing of the treatment surface and underlying tissue 11.

  • Patent number: 8016580
Abstract: In order to facilitate the assembly of a tire component like an Off the Road tire shoulder wedge, it is proposed to extrude this component with a high tack compound coating at its periphery by using a dual extruder which otherwise can extrude the tire component with a first high tack compound coating on one side, combined with an assembly for the extruder comprising a splice bar, a holder and a die which are designed to provide a channel deriving and guiding a portion of the high tack compound of the extruder to the stream of compounds before extrusion through the die, on a side opposite to the first coating, thereby providing a coating at almost the whole periphery of the component.

  • Patent number: 8002535
Abstract: The invention relates to the extrusion of tire components with a large change of gauge across their cross-sectional area. It is provided a method and an assembly for extruding such a tire component with an extruder feeding a flow channel with a downstream die opening, whereby a deflector is provided in the flow channel upstream the die opening such that a flow of rubber is slowed down in front of broad portions of the cross-sectional area of the downstream die, avoiding distortion or bending of the extruded tire component.

  • Patent number: 7988648
Abstract: The method of stimulating a tissue of a subsurface organ is disclosed. The method has the steps of activating an acoustic shock wave generator or source to emit acoustic shock waves; and subjecting the tissue to the acoustic shock waves stimulating said tissue wherein the tissue is positioned within a path of the emitted shock waves and away from a geometric focal volume or point of the emitted shock waves. In one embodiment the emitted shock waves are divergent or near planar. In another embodiment the emitted shock waves are convergent having a geometric focal volume of point at a distance of at least X from the source, the method further comprising positioning the tissue at a distance less than the distance X from the source. The subsurface organ is a tissue having cells. The tissue is a part of the incretin system. The subsurface organ is preferably the pancreas of a diabetic or at risk diabetic patient.

  • Patent number: 7980273
Abstract: A feature of the present invention is it is adaptable to any pre-existing storm catch basin system. Another feature of the present invention is that it permits empirical analysis and verification of the draw down rate. Another feature is the present invention can be adjusted or modified to increase or decrease the rate of draw down after it has been installed to insure regulatory conditions are precisely met without difficulty. Changes in future regulatory draw down rates can be easily implemented. A flow restriction device has an orifice plate, the orifice plate having a frontal surface area A and at least one opening for the passage of fluid of an area Oa, wherein Oa is less than A. The flow restriction device may also employ a screen debris plate, the screen debris plate having a plurality of spaced openings for the passage of fluid; the sum area of the openings being ?Osp wherein ?Osp is greater than Oa.
