A plurality of rungs, spaced along the rail's length, hold the rails in a substantially parallel relationship and are spaced at regular intervals except for the uppermost rung which is placed adjacent the upper, rail radius leaving an unequal spacing between the upper two rungs. Thus providing the climber with a better footing advantage when traversing around a tree to avoid limbs or when transferring to another ladder or tree stand.
