  • Patent number: 7421735
Abstract: A method, system and apparatus are described for avoiding the use of a web-server or generic security when providing network administration services remotely to managed entities using wireless technology. Instead a true Proxy device, not operating as a web-server, is used to preprocess all command traffic from wireless input devices (WID). The intervention between the WID and the managed entities of the Proxy isolating the managed entities from the WID, enhanced by encoding using a novel messaging protocol, further enhanced by a novel security model based on multiple pre-shared keys and algorithms together with identifiers and passwords that are not transmitted, achieves several bandwidth and security advantages including the ability to deliver TELNET services across the Internet and behind a firewall.

  • Patent number: 7419458
Abstract: A new and unique highly adjustable stationary exercise bicycle is presented incorporating a number of features specifically designed for youthful stationary bicycle users. The improvements over the prior art include infinitely adjustable vertical and horizontal seat heights and handlebar heights which are secured in their positions by a quick release lever rather than the standard pop pins. Also included is a lubrication port that allows the surface between the friction member and the working wheel to be lubricated. An emergency brake for the working wheel as well as a quick way to disengage the working wheel from the pedals is provided. Special pedal cage brackets are placed around each pedal so that the youth's use of such an exercise bicycle is made much more safely. All of the above elements combine to make this stationary exercise bicycle safe for use by children or adolescents.

  • Patent number: 7399944
Abstract: The present invention is directed to a method and arrangement for controlling a glow discharge plasma in a gas or gas mixture under atmospheric conditions, in a plasma discharge space comprising at least two spaced electrodes in which at least one plasma pulse having an absolute pulse maximum is generated by applying an AC plasma energizing voltage to the electrodes causing a plasma current and a displacement current. The plasma is controlled by providing a relative decrease of the displacement current after the pulse maximum. In a preferred embodiment, the energizing voltage is applied through a series circuit including a choke coil and a non-saturable inductor.

  • Patent number: 7396125
Abstract: Eyeglasses include a pair of temples, and a lens frame assembly. Each of the temples has a front end portion that is formed with a recess. Each temple includes a first positioning protrusion that is disposed in the recess and that defines a first abutment face formed with a plurality of first teeth. The lens frame assembly includes a pair of connectors extending rearwardly, and that are pivotally and respectively disposed in the recesses. Each connector has a rearward end defining a second abutment face that is formed with a plurality of second teeth that mesh selectively with the first teeth to thereby allow for vertical adjustment of the temples. Each of the first and second abutment faces has a first vertical edge and a second vertical edge, and is slanted such that the first vertical edge is more forwardly positioned than the second vertical edge.

  • Patent number: 7396257
Abstract: A security circuit is disposed within the housing of an input/output (I/O) connector assembly that is configured to implement the functionality of a computer system I/O port. Thus, when the connector assembly is mounted on a computer system board the security circuit is mounted right along with the connector assembly. The I/O connector assembly includes a connector housing, an I/O connector, and the security circuit. The connector housing is adapted to mount on the computer system board. The I/O connector is disposed within the connector housing and defines a receptacle adapted to electrically couple to a peripheral device. The security circuit is disposed within the connector housing and is electrically coupled to the I/O port. The security circuit is configured to implement one or more security routines, and is transparent to the I/O functionality until it is needed to implement the security routines.

  • Patent number: 7389928
Abstract: The method and system include marking a surgery site (e.g., location of surgical incision) or a site of other medical action with a machine-readable medical marking (e.g., bar code or a dot pattern), which may be used in conjunction with (1) a scanner for reading the machine-readable medical marking and (2) a controller for controlling medical actions in response to the read machine-readable medical marking. The system and method ensure the validation of the surgical procedure, the patient awaiting the surgical procedure, and the site or location on the patient where the surgery is to be performed. Utilizing a scanning device for reading machine-readable medical markings, and a controller, there are additional means to check and double check the medical action before the actual medical action (e.g., surgery) is performed.

  • Patent number: 7385491
Abstract: A tamper monitor circuit detects voltage, temperature, and/or clock variations that may be associated with a circuit tampering technique, and triggers an appropriate tamper response. The tamper monitor circuit includes a reference oscillator, a detection oscillator, and a comparison circuit. The reference oscillator supplies a reference signal having a reference frequency. The detection oscillator operates at a circuit temperature and is energized with a supply voltage, and supplies a detection signal having a frequency that varies with variations in the circuit temperature, variations in the supply voltage, or both. The comparison circuit receives the reference signal and the detection signal and, in response to the reference signal, selectively determines the frequency of the detection signal, determines a frequency difference between two or more of the determined frequencies, and supplies a tamper detect signal if the determined frequency difference exceeds a predetermined difference threshold.
