Abstract: A method and device are provided for welding structural parts, preferably of a gas turbine, especially of an aircraft engine. A structural component is laser-welded by means of at least one laser source, the one or more laser sources being operated in a pulsed mode. Pulse duration and/or pulse shape and/or output of the one or more laser sources are adjusted in a variable manner. The wire advance of the welding wire is controlled subject to the pulses of the one or more laser sources.
Abstract: A single level web conversion apparatus is provided. The single level web conversion apparatus includes a web guiding apparatus guiding a web, a former longitudinally folding the web downstream of the web guiding apparatus and a cutting apparatus cutting the folded web into a first signature and a second signature. The web guiding apparatus includes rolls having axes of rotation aligned with a vertical direction that guide the web in a vertical on-edge orientation. The former receives the web in a vertical on-edge orientation and folding the web such that the folded web has a horizontal orientation and travels in a horizontal plane. The first and second signature each travel in the horizontal plane. A method of producing and delivering printed products is also provided.

Abstract: A method and system for controlling the creeping behavior of a vehicle equipped with an automated clutch (4). According to the method for controlling the creeping behavior of a vehicle equipped with an automated clutch (4), the actuation of a brake actuation element (34) is detected. In addition, a creep parameter, which influences creeping and whose magnitude influences the actuation position of the clutch (4), is modified with an increasing actuation of the brake actuation element (34) to reduce the creeping behavior.

Abstract: A folder includes a cylinder having a first gripping device receiving a folded edge of a signature and rotating the signature at a first surface speed. A conveyor presses the signature against the outer surface and the conveyor contacts the signatures at a second surface speed slower than the first surface speed. The present invention also provides a method for removing signatures from a cylinder.
Abstract: A web conversion and collating apparatus is provided. The web conversion and collating apparatus includes a cutting apparatus cutting a printed web into a first signature and a second signature, a transport conveyor for transporting the first signature and the second signature away from the cutting apparatus and a first diverter for diverting the first signature from the transport conveyor. The second signature passes by the first diverter on the transport conveyor. A first assembly receives the first signature from the first diverter and a second assembly downstream of the first assembly receives the second signature. A stack receiving conveyor downstream of the first assembly and the second assembly is also included. The stack receiving conveyor receives the first signature and the second signature and the first signature is stacked on the second signature on the stack receiving conveyor. A printing press and a method of producing and collating signatures are also provided.

Abstract: A method and a sealing system for sealing the space between a piston and the hub of a torque converter lockup clutch is provided. According to the method and the sealing system, the seal is pretensioned with its cylindrical surface facing the piston bore. In an embodiment of the invention, the first seal is fastened by a second seal. The invention allows minimization of oil leakage flow and at the same time to linearize its dependency on the differential pressure. Spontaneous sealing may be reduced, thereby directly correlating the contact pressure of the piston—and thus the torque of the torque converter lockup clutch—with differential pressure and eventually allowing for smoother travel.
Abstract: In a first exemplary embodiment of the present invention, an automated, computerized method is provided for processing an image. According to a feature of the present invention, the method comprises the step of performing a filter response technique to identify patches of uniform reflectance within the image. In a further exemplary embodiment, the method comprises the additional step of utilizing the identified patches of uniform material reflectance to generate single material token regions for use in processing material and illumination aspects of the image.

Abstract: The method allows ZrF4 to be converted into ZrO2, by carrying out a thermal conversion operation based on solid ZrF4 and water which are heated in a reactor until converted into ZrO2. The initial ratio by weight of ZrF4 to water is in particular between 1/5 and 1/500, and this ratio is maintained substantially for the entire duration of the conversion. The thermal conversion is carried out at a temperature greater than or equal to 300° C. The invention is used in particular for recycling pickling baths for zirconium alloys.

Abstract: A method for determining the centrality of masks is disclosed. The mask is positioned in a coordinate measuring device on a measurement table displaceable in a direction perpendicular to the optical axis of an imaging measurement system in an interferometrically measurable way. The position of a mask coordinate system with respect to the measuring device coordinate system is determined based on at lest two structures on the mask. The relative distance from one of the at least first and second outer edges to the at least two structures is determined. The coordinate measuring machine determines the actual coordinates of the at least two structures with respect to the respective outer edges, which must not exceed a predetermined deviation from a desired value.
Abstract: An inking device of a printing unit includes an ink reservoir, an ink film pick-up roller which has a shaft, and an inking roller having a shaft. A detector detects the distance between the inking roller and the pick-up roller and/or an angular displacement of the two shafts relative to each other and providing an output signal which represents this distance and/or this angular displacement. A controller angularly the second shaft relative to the first shaft, and the controller is capable of reducing the angular displacement and of positioning the pick-up roller in accordance with the output signal.
