Abstract: Electrochemical sensors for investigating a physiological sample and methods of manufacture are disclosed. The sensor includes an electrochemical reaction cell, having electrodes and a reagent, and laterally spaced electrical contact points for electrically communication with a meter. Further described herein is a multi-chambered sensor having an electrochemical reaction cell and an immunological cell. The multi-chambered cell can also include a pre-chamber.

Abstract: A wireless communication device includes conventional components to permit a network communication link to be established with a wireless communication network. In addition, the wireless communication device includes a non-network transceiver that detects the presence of a wireless access point. When two such equipped devices come within proximity of the access point, a non-network wireless communication link is established. The two devices exchange portions of profile data which is analyzed to determine if a match exists. If a match occurs, a contact notification is generated. This permits the wireless communication device to act as an auto-detecting social network device that detects the proximity of other devices whose owners have a profile that matches the stored user preference data. Subsequent communication may occur in a conventional manner using the wireless network communication channels and web applications may also be used to gain additional information.
Abstract: The present invention provides a method of fast image construction. The wavelength information is extracted in advance based on characteristics of a Fourier domain Optical Coherent Tomography (OCT) system, to obtain a vector of wavelengths which are in a uniform distribution in a wave number space, and thus to obtain a virtual position coefficient of this wavelength vector at a CCD, from which a weight matrix is calculated based on a transfer function for a discrete Fourier transform with zero-padding interpolation. In operation of the system, the interpolation is carried out based on the weight matrix and collected data, or is carried out based on the weight matrix which has been truncated by being subject to windowing and the collected data, to obtain interpolated data satisfying requirements.

Abstract: A microfluidic device for transferring liquid from a first chamber to a second chamber is provided. The device has a first chamber; a second chamber; and a barrier between the first chamber and the second chamber, the barrier having least one opening fluidly connecting the first chamber to the second chamber, the at least one opening being sized such that a retention force, such as surface tension, keeps the liquid in the first chamber. The fluid is transferred from the first chamber to the second chamber when an initiation input such as fluid pressure is introduced to the liquid that is sufficient to overcome the retention force. The device may be a sensor strip.

Abstract: Disclosed is a method for determining haplotypes useful for large-scale genetic analysis, within a genomic reference sequence of interest, for a human subpopulation. The method can applied to statistically evaluating the genotypes of subjects for any statistically significant association with a phenotype of interest, such as insulin resistance or coronary artery disease. Thus, also disclosed are a method of detecting a genetic predisposition in a human subject for certain biological conditions, which may be related to coronary artery disease.

Abstract: Different adapters and applications may publish information on the messaging bus and retrieve information from the bus simultaneously in a manner that does not cause interference or problems in the publication or retrieval. Meter data is cleaned, validated and estimated by separate applications using the above-described application and retrieval processes via the message bus for flexible and efficient processing.
