Abstract: A nephelometer instrument capable of measuring from zero to 10,000 NTUs. The instrument includes four light detectors, three of which are positioned such that they measure light scattered at specific directions by a liquid sample. The fourth detector measures light transmitted through the sample. A removable light filter is also included. The light beam is focused on the front surface of the sample cell.

Abstract: A flashlight stand and wrist mount comprising a molded high-impact resistant plastic base shaped to facilitate the hands-free positioning of a flashlight in any desired direction. The device additionally comprises straps which can encircle the forearm of a person or similarly sized object allowing an attached flashlight to be carried or mounted on the arm or other object. A flashlight can be attached to the base utilizing one or more rings attached to a pivot point on the base, allowing for directional adjustment of the flashlight.
Abstract: Spikes are described for use in apparatus useful for aerating soil, especially grass or hay ground. The elongated spikes are secured to a cylindrical drum. As the apparatus is towed across a field, the spikes penetrate the soil and loosen it as well as providing openings in the soil to improve absorption of water. The spikes are preferably secured to bands encircling the drum, and the spacing between bands is adjustable so that the spacing between spikes can be adjusted.
Abstract: A coupling system for connecting or attaching a working tool to the free end of a working arm. For example, a bucket, hammer, etc. can be easily attached to the end of an articulated arm on an excavator. The coupling system includes a fixed jaw and a movable jaw which is pivotable between open and closed positions. The movable jaw includes one or more tabs which extend through an opening in the coupler housing. Pins are used to lock the movable jaw in its closed position.
Abstract: A radio-controlled trolling vessel for supporting a fishing reel and line. The vessel is a pontoon-type having good stability. All operations are controlled from a remote location (e.g., on shore) by the operator. The vessel can be powered by an electric motor or gas engine, or both. A cutter or knife can be included on the vessel for cutting the line if it should become snagged.
Abstract: A rack system for supporting screen frames in vertically-spaced horizontal shelves. Each shelf includes sloped or stepped support surfaces which accommodate screen frames of any width and which minimize surface contact and friction between the screen frame and the support surface of the rack without adjustment. Wheels can be included under the rack to enable the rack to be used as a cart for transporting screen frames from one location to another. Side wall panels and a door can be included to enclose the structure. This enables the atmosphere inside the enclosure to be controlled.
Abstract: A spoiler flap is pivotably mounted to the rearward portion of a wind turbine blade or wing to control or influence air flow over the surface of the blade or wing. The spoiler flap has forward and rearward edges. The spoiler flap can be pivoted to simultaneously raise the forward edge (into low pressure flow) and lower the rearward edge of the spoiler flap (into high pressure flow). The extent to which the spoiler flap is pivoted determines the extent to which the air flow over the surface of the blade or wing is influenced. When the spoiler flap is fully deployed or pivoted, it serves as a braking device. When it is only partially pivoted, it serves the function of power modulation.
Abstract: A tub grinder which includes a comb on the floor adjacent the opening. The comb is movable toward and away from the rotor to adjust the size of the opening and to regulate the rate at which bulk material is impacted by the rotor. The comb also assists in preventing wads or slugs of the material from getting to the rotor. The tub grinder can also include notched bars below the floor for holding strings and fibrous material so that the hammers can cut them into shorter lengths. An air deflector can also be included to direct air flow from the rotor back toward the rotor. An adjustable restricter can also be included adjacent the rotor.
Abstract: A re-usable piston filter including an elongated tubular barrel member with a closed lower end and an open upper end, an elongated tubular piston member having an open upward end and a fluid-permeable lower end, and filter means detachably secured to the lower end of the piston. Downward movement of the piston in the barrel forces liquid in the barrel through the filter and into the tubular piston. An air valve in the barrel can be opened to enable the piston to be withdrawn from the barrel. The filter at the lower end of the piston can be changed or removed as desired.

Abstract: Apparatus is described for obtaining uniform compaction of asphalt concrete to reduce or prevent cracking of the asphalt concrete surface. A mobile confinement edge force is maintained in contact with the edge surface of an asphalt concrete mat while the mat is being compacted. This is performed in a manner such that the density of the mat across the full width of the mat becomes uniform. By obtaining uniform density of each lane of the mat as it is laid significantly reduces the incidence of joint cracking and deterioration of the asphalt concrete, in the longitudinal joint area, over time.

Abstract: An improved tribrach device for attaching an optical sighting instrument to a support such as a tripod. The tribrach device includes a pivotable locking ring for securing the legs of the sighting instrument to the tribrach. The locking ring is biased towards its locked position and is easily unlocked when desired. A laser beam is projected upwardly and downwardly along a vertical axis.
Abstract: An excrement scoop having an elongated handle and a cup secured to one end. A valve is associated with an aperture in the lower end of the cup. The valve permits water and air to flow out of the cup through the aperture and prevents water from entering the cup through the bottom end. The cup can be easily cleaned in a conventional toilet, for example.
Abstract: Angle adjustable clamps are described which include a pair of jaws connected to pliers-type handles. At least one of the jaws includes two faces, and the angle between the faces is adjustable. The clamps are useful for gripping and supporting workpieces at a desired angle to each other.
Abstract: A brush-type mill sweep which is particularly suited for pyrite removal from the floor of a vertical spindle coal pulverizer. The mill sweep is secured at one end to the spindle or the shaft skirt, and the mill sweep includes a plurality of downwardly-extending cables which are flexible and resilient for removing ungrindable rejects from the floor of the pulverizer beneath the grinding bowl.
Abstract: Apparatus for use with a tractor loader, and including a support, elongated teeth attached to a frame, a retainer above the teeth which is pivotable between upper and lower positions, and a push arm between the teeth and the retainer which is movable between retracted and extended positions. The apparatus can handle various types of bales of hay, straw, etc. It can also be used to lift and transport loose fibrous material. The retainer is pivoted downwardly to grip and hold the material on the teeth. When the retainer is pivoted upwardly, the push arm can be moved to its extended position to urge the material off the forward ends of the teeth.
