  • Patent number: 4945788
Abstract: A tool for removing insulation from mid-span of a conductor cable which includes a frame with first and second jaw members, one of which is slidably mounted on the frame to close and cooperate with the other jaw member to secure cable in the tool for rotation of the frame relative to the cable. A circular ringing knife blade assembly is slidably mounted on the frame for movement toward and away from cable secured in the jaw members and upon extension of the circular knife blade and at least one full rotation of the frame in a first direction relative to the cable, the circular knife blade scores the jacket along a closed cut around the complete periphery of the cable. An insulation stripping assembly includes at least one blade edge for removing the radial thickness of the insulation from the cable. • Patent number: 4945044
Abstract: A method for testing sperm quality comprising obtaining a sperm sample; detecting CK enzyme from the sperm sample; measuring a first CK enzyme concentration for CKX isoforms of the CK enzyme; and determining a sperm quality parameter based upon the first CK enzyme concentration. Preferably a second CK enzyme concentration is measured for CKB isoforms of the CK enzyme and is also used as a basis for determining the sperm quality parameter. Measurements of the levels of CKX and CKB isoforms by electrophoresis and fluorescence techniques are used to establish the first and second CK enzyme concentrations. The sperm quality parameter is proportional to the ratio of the CKX isoform level to the sum of the CKX and CKB isoform levels. Sperm which meets a predetermined minimum sperm quality level is selected for use in vivo or in vitro fertilization attempts on eggs.

  • Patent number: 4941300
Abstract: A sealing system is shown for sealing between a waterproof roofing membrane and a curb around a roof opening, including a cap flashing for the curb, a top flange connected to the cap flashing and extending outwardly therefrom and a wall flange connected to the top flange which extends downwardly and forms a filler channel defined by the top flange, the wall flange and the curb. The roofing membrane is held in the filler channel by folding it over a longitudinal resilient filler material sized to fit closely within the filler channel. A plurality of spaced-apart tabs integral with the wall flange are bent into the filler channel beneath the filler material to securely hold the membrane therein without the necessity for any loose fasteners. A preassembled sealing system perimeter frame ready for mounting on an existing curb, a sealing system with an attached hatchway cover, and a complete hatchway with perimeter frame sealing system, cover, curb and associated flashing are also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 4941663
Abstract: A service catching device for a tennis court comprising a pair of frame sections, each having a pair of upstanding edges and a pair of horizontal edges, the frame sections being joined along an upstanding edge perpendicular to each other to form a "L" shape as seen in plan view. One of the frame sections has horizontal edges longer than the other of the frame sections. Netting is secured between the upstanding and horizontal of each of the frame sections to prevent a tennis ball from passing through the frame sections. The frame section having the longer horizontal edges is placed along the rear line defining the tennis court service area while the frame section having the shorter horizontal edges is placed along the outside line defining the tennis court service area. The frame sections and associated netting are adapted to retain tennis balls served into the service area from the opposite side of the tennis court.

  • Patent number: 4873791
Abstract: A torque rod operated counterbalancing hinge comprising first and second hinge members connected together at a hinge point, the second hinge member being curved with a cam surface to the first hinge member, and the other end rotatable relative to a pivot point located at a position displaced from the location of the hinge point. A lever arm has one end rotatably mounted at the pivot point and the other end has a bearing surface for contacting the cam surface. The rotating end of the torque rod is fixed relative to the lever arm whereby rotational hinge motion of the first hinge member relative to the second hinge member causes the cam surface to press upon the bearing surface through a moving contact point which rotates the lever arm to produce a counterbalancing twisting of the torque rod. The invention also includes a door assembly employing the counterbalancing hinges.

Abstract: A cylindrical lever handle lock mounted in a door panel having a transverse bore therethrough is secured against rotation due to torque applied to the lever handles. The lock mechanism includes a lock chassis having a pair of chassis support members each having a pair of slots on their peripheries. A pair of support plates having inwardly extending tongue members slide into the support plate openings. The support plates are of a diameter greater than the bore and have openings in the periphery of each which corresponds with a hole drilled in the door panel outside of the bore. Door handle roses are secured over the support plates by through-bolts which pass through the support plate peripheral openings and the drilled door holes. Threaded bushings are also utilized to tighten the support plates on either side of the bore. Additional tabs and screws may be used to non-rotatably secure the support plates to the door panel.
