In one embodiment the polymer alloy is an alloy of methylmethacrylate/N-phenylmaleimide and styrene/maleic anhydride. Abstract: Moldable polyester-sulfone thermoplastic resins are prepared by reacting (1) a dihydric phenol, (2) a bis(.alpha.,.alpha.-disubstituted acetic acid) sulfone or its reactive derivative, and (3) a 4,4'-benzophenone dicarboxylic acid or its reactive derivative. Molded articles prepared from the polyester-sulfone resins of the invention exhibit excellent resistance to heat, impact, UV and chemicals.
Abstract: A process for producing sulfonated polymers containing styrene moieties and cyclic imide moieties comprises reacting a styrene/maleic anhydride copolymer with a primary amine to produce a polyimide and then subjecting the polyimide to sulfonation wherein both the imidization step and the sulfonation step are conducted in a solvent inert to both reaction steps, such as nitrobenzene.

In one embodiment the polyester-sulfone resin can be molded to form articles.
