  • Patent number: 5776209
Abstract: An apparatus and process for applying an electrode paste onto a substrate for use in an electrolytic cell. The apparatus includes a mixing device which mixes, and then dispenses, predetermined amounts of an electrode paste and a polymerization initiator onto a substrate. The mixing device is constructed so as to substantially preclude polymerization of the electrode paste during such mixing, as well as to preclude polymerization prior to application of the mixture onto the substrate.

  • Patent number: 5765751
Abstract: A "button cell" battery-type volatile substance delivery device includes a thin-walled metallic canister (11) with apertures (14) at the closed end thereof which allows volatile fluid to escape therefrom as a vapor. A permeable membrane (13) such as a microporous membrane is positioned in one end of the canister and is sealed with a cap (16) and grommet (12) assembly. Volatile fluid is placed in the cap and grommet assembly prior to placement of the canister for crimping of the device to form a hermetic seal between the canister and the cap as well as a hermetic seal between the canister and permeable membrane along the perimeter of the closed end of the canister. These two seals allow volatile fluid contained in the cell to diffuse only through the permeable membrane at a controlled rate. The rate of evaporation of the fluid depends on the characteristics of the membrane and the number of apertures. Tape may be placed over the apertures to prevent volatilization of fluid until it is ready to be used.

  • Patent number: 5765225
Abstract: A baby bib having a bottle holding capability. The bib has an attached bottle-holding structure which maintains a baby bottle in a predetermined position, both laterally and longitudinally. The bottle holding attachment is made of a soft structural material covered with a fabric material similar to the bib fabric. The bottle holder may also be made with a harness attached to it so that it may be held in place without being attached to a bib.

  • Patent number: 5765600
Abstract: Methods for producing improved pipe structures for natural gas distribution pipelines produce a thin fibrous jacket or layer which can inhibit and prevent cracks in natural gas distribution piping by preventing surface scratches as well as by enhancing the pipe strength. Thermoplastic fibers are preferred in accordance with methods and structures of the present invention to facilitate the use of joining techniques and hot-tapping techniques common in the natural gas distribution industry. Non-woven, heat shrinkable fibers are also employed in sleeve structures to produce a protective fibrous jacket or layer.

  • Patent number: 5762677
Abstract: A forced convection heating apparatus and process for heating glass sheets therewithin. The apparatus includes at least one gas burner for producing hot combustion gases to be distributed toward and into contact with the top and/or bottom surfaces of a glass sheet within the apparatus housing. The temperature of the hot combustion gases which is distributed to the top surface of the glass sheet is adjustable independently of the temperature of the hot combustion gases being distributed to the bottom surface of the glass sheet to, in turn, enable independent control of convection heat transfer to both surfaces of the glass sheet.

  • Patent number: 5763114
Abstract: A thermally integrated reformer (10) is located inside the stack furnace (12) housing stacks (14) of solid oxide fuel cells (16). The energy to support the endothermic reformation reaction converting hydrocarbon and water feedstock into hydrogen and carbon monoxide fuel is supplied by heat recovered from the oxidation process in the stack (14) of fuel cells (16). The source of hydrocarbons is desulfurized natural gas. Heat transfers to reformers (10) which may be incrementally shielded packed beds (30, 60) of the reactors (18, 19) of the reformer (10) by radiation from the stacks (14), furnace wall (38), or both and by forced convection from the exhausting airflow exiting the stack furnace (12). Temperature gradients in the reformer (10) may be controlled by selective (or incremented) radiation shielding (20) and by counterflow heat exchange to prevent excessive premature cracking in the reformer.

  • Patent number: 5759082
Abstract: A cartwheel tumbling doll has a torso and a head mounted on the torso. An axis extends generally through the center of the head and torso. A pair of arms, each arm having a shoulder end and a hand end, are mounted for limited pivotal movement adjacent each arm's shoulder about a respective axis that is generally perpendicular to the center axis. A pair of legs, each leg having a hip end and a foot end, are mounted adjacent each leg's hip for limited pivotal movement relative to the torso about a respective axis that is generally perpendicular to the center axis. A weight is releasably connected to each hand. The foot of each leg contacts a substantially planar surface to support the doll in a generally upright position with the arms extended away from the feet and carrying the releasably connected weights. Pushing one side of the doll causes it to tumble sideways or cartwheel.
