  • Patent number: 5972402
Abstract: To eliminate from non-fermented or fermented fruit juices obtained from fruit or grapes, in particular wine, the undesirable odors and/or taste caused by sulphur or sulphur compounds, called "Bockser", it is proposed according to the invention to add hardly soluble or insoluble organic Cu-compounds to the liquid, which, by reacting with the sulphur or sulphur compounds, form insoluble sulphides that can easily be separated from the liquid by precipitation. Particularly suitable for this are copper salts of citric acid, tartaric acid, malic acid or stearic acid or mixtures of these salts.

  • Patent number: 5957746
Abstract: A manually operable device for holding and rotating candy, such as a sucker, that requires only one hand to hold and operate. The device has a handle portion that may be held with one hand of the user. A trigger is carried by the handle for manipulation against the bias of a spring or the like using the same hand of the user as is holding the handle. Actuation of the trigger moves a rack which in turn both rotates and linearly moves a set of gears to rotate a shaft that extends out of the handle. Attached to the end of the shaft extending out of the handle is a sucker or lollipop that is rotated as a result of actuation of the trigger. The sucker may be carried on a dish which is attached to the shaft, outside of the handle portion, for rotation with the shaft.

  • Patent number: 5956377
Abstract: An apparatus is disclosed for synchronizing frames in a continuous stream of digital data consisting of a plurality of master frames (M-bits long) containing data and a constant synchronization word and having an associated bit clock. The apparatus includes a FIFO buffer, a synchronization word register (containing the constant synchronization word) and a comparator operably connected to the FIFO buffer and the synchronization word register to generate a sync detect signal representing whether the portion of the continuous stream of data contained in the FIFO matches the constant synchronization word. The apparatus further includes a frame bit counter controlled by the sync detect signal and the associated bit clock, which generates a frame sync signal every M-bits, a counter connected to a first comparator that generates a sync achieved signal upon the counter output value equaling a first predetermined value and means for incrementing the counter upon coincidence of the sync detect and frame sync signals.

  • Patent number: 5949195
Abstract: The present disclosure is directed to an apparatus for extending useful life of barricade warning light. The apparatus comprises a light source; a battery having an output voltage; and an oscillator circuit connected to the battery. The oscillator circuit drives the light source in either a first or alternate mode, wherein the first mode the light source flashes within a desired flasher frequency range and the alternate mode the light source is continually illuminated. The oscillator biased such that the oscillator circuit automatically switches from the first mode into the alternate mode at an optimal value for the battery output voltage. A method for extending useful life of barricade warning light is also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 5944363
Abstract: Flexible connector systems are provided for decoupling vibrations between two components of an exhaust system of a vehicle, for example an exhaust manifold and an exhaust down pipe. The flexible connector systems are configured for providing sealed, substantially leak-proof connections which are capable of accommodating axial elongation and contraction, as well as pivoting movements of one component, relative to another component. The flexible connector systems include mating structures which are configured to mate with existing manifold outlet formations, with little or no modification of the exhaust manifold configuration. Ball joint structures and/or resilient mounting materials are used for accommodating pivoting movements. Bellows are provided for accommodating elongation and contraction, while providing sealing enclosure of pipe elements transporting the exhaust gases.
