  • Patent number: 8325845
Abstract: An ARQ (re-) transmission method of transmitting data in a wireless communication system wherein data packets are transmitted from a transmitter to a receiver, using a first transmission and a second transmission based on a repeat request. The method comprises the steps of modulating data at the transmitter using a first signal constellation pattern to obtain a first data symbol. The first data symbol is transmitted as the first transmission to the receiver using a first diversity branch. Further, the data is modulated at the transmitter using a second signal constellation pattern to obtain a second data symbol. Then, the second data symbol is transmitted as the second transmission to the receive over a second diversity branch. Finally, the received first and second data symbol data symbol are diversity combined at the receiver. The invention further relates to a transmitter and a receiver embodied to carry out the method of the invention.

  • Patent number: 8320345
Abstract: Provided is a radio communication method which can reduce the power consumption as compared to the conventional technique while realizing coexistence of a plurality of radio communication methods and can perform synchronization with a super frame of other radio communication device. The super frame has life confirmation slots (2820, 2830) through which radio communication devices of various modulation types should transmit tone signals. A radio communication device has a chance to judge whether one or more radio communication devices using a different modulation type exist or no such device exists in the vicinity. If no such device exists, the slot to be used by the radio communication device of the modulation method is reported as a time that can be used by a radio communication group of other modulation method. Thus, by confirming existence of an object in the vicinity by other radio communication device with which communication cannot be performed, communication can be performed by sharing the super frame.

According to the disclosed wireless medium access control protocol the medium access time is partitioned into equal sized slots, and a predetermined number of the slots forming a superframe. The protocol defines beaconing devices and passive devices. Each beaconing device designates one of the slots in the superframe as its beacon medium access slot, and broadcasts during that beacon medium access slot a beacon frame to other devices in wireless range of that beaconing device. A beacon frame collision detection and resolution procedure, and a procedure for reserving access time for communication between devices are also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 8317942
Abstract: A cast iron material, particularly a ledeburitic cast iron material with a carbide content of at least 15 wt. % and a characteristic free, evenly distributed graphite formation is disclosed. In this case, the evenly distributed graphite formation may comprise graphite flakes and/or vermicular graphite and/or nodular graphite. Depending on the respective application (diameter (D) of the running gear seal, peripheral speed), the basic matrix may be realized in pearlitic and/or bainitic and/or martensitic form. Due to the high graphite content, the material has a thermal conductivity that is three to four times greater than that of white cast iron materials, wherein this provides the advantage that no scoring of the running gear seals occurs at high peripheral speeds (>5 m/s) and large diametrical dimensions of the seals (D >600 mm). In addition, the high carbide content of at least 15 wt.

  • Patent number: 8320356
Abstract: The circuit scale of a wireless communication apparatus at the data receiving end in a wireless communication performing an adaptive control for each of subcarriers or subchannels can be reduced. In the present apparatus, frame forming parts (103-1 to 103-m) each multiplex a pilot, control information and transport data to form a frame for a respective one of subchannels (1 to m). A subcarrier assigning part (104) assigns subcarriers designated from an adaptive control part (114) to the respective frames formed by the frame forming parts (103-1 to 103-m). A timing control part (105) establishes mutually different frame timing offsets to the respective frames received from the subcarrier assigning part (104).
