    Abstract: An acoustic sensor for monitoring machining processes in machining tools, e.g. grinding machines, includes a stationary unit, or stator (21) and a rotating unit, or rotor (23), the latter being coupled, for instance, to the grinding wheel and rotating with it. The rotor includes a support (45;45?) and a piezoelectric transducer (33). The position of the transducer is defined and locked without using glues by means of mechanical elements (48, 53, 54; 63, 64; 74, 78) that may include elastic elements such as springs. The rotor also includes a printed circuit board (55), connected to the piezoelectric transducer, with a charge amplifier (37) for amplifying the output signal of the piezoelectric transducer. The rotor is electrically coupled to the stator by means of transformer type couplings (30, 31).

The method utilizes a supplemental plating structure that is larger than a die contact that is to be plated. The supplemental plating structure may be located on the wafer, and is conductively connected to the die contact. Conductive connection between the die contact and the supplemental plating structure facilitates the plating of the die contact. The supplemental plating structure also can be used to probe test the die prior to singulation.

The waste part holding mechanism employs a magnetic holding member for holding a waste part of a magnetic material or a resilient holding member for holding a waste part of a nonmagnetic material.     Abstract: An intermediate lens pad having a side secured to curved surface of a lens tool when the pad is in use. The pad has a surface on its other side which is substantially smooth, but which is formed with a multiplicity of substantially uniformly distributed holes or recesses which are at least of an order of magnitude smaller than the pad itself, or the surface is defined by the outer surfaces of a multiplicity of protuberances uniformly distributed over the pad such that the minimum space between adjacent protuberances is of an order of magnitude smaller than the pad itself. A lens surfacing pad having a peel-off adhesive on one side and a working surface on its other side, can be secured by its adhesive side to the intermediate pad so that it inhibits movement between the pads during surfacing, whilst allowing manual removal of the surfacing pad for replacement.

    Abstract: A plurality of target values for generating a gain control signal are provided such that switching is performed between the target values with a baseband signal processing unit. When saturation occurs at input ends of A/D converters for digital processing of the received signal, the target value is switched to the next lower target value. Thus, even when the received signal includes an interference wave in addition to a desired wave, saturation at the input ends of the A/D converters due to the interference wave is prevented, thereby making it possible to maintain favorable reception characteristics and suppression of an increased bit error rate in digital communication.
