    Abstract: The present invention has the object of providing a charged particle beam irradiation method ideal for reducing the focus offset, magnification fluctuation and measurement length error in charged particle beam devices. To achieve these objects, a method is disclosed in the invention for measuring the electrical potential distribution on the sample with a static electrometer while loaded by a loader mechanism. Another method is disclosed for measuring the local electrical charge at specified points on the sample, and isolating and measuring the wide area electrostatic charge quantity from those local electrostatic charges.

The deep implanted region reduces surface leakage and dark current and increases the capacitance of the photodiode by acting as a reflective barrier to photo-generated charge in the doped region of the second conductivity type of the photodiode. The deep implanted region also provides improved charge transfer from the charge collection region of the photodiode to a floating diffusion region adjacent the gate of the transfer transistor.

The system and method provide for use of PECVD hydrogenation followed by nitrogen plasma treatment of the tip of the current emitter of the FED device. By reducing the amount of oxides in the tip, this invention provides for an increase in the current emission of the FED device.

A driver circuit generates a voltage that is transmitted to a unity gain voltage amplifier and a common source amplifier. A source-follower circuit in the voltage amplifier is activated when the voltage reaches a voltage threshold for an activating transistor, sending voltage to the output of the common-source amplifier, resulting in an output with a reduced swing. In an alternate embodiment, a variable-level reduced swing line driver is disclosed that uses a transistor as a variable resister to alter the threshold voltages and level control. A level control circuit is further disclosed that controls one or more variable-level line drivers.

The binarization device includes a binarization unit, a slice level setting unit, and a weight adding function. The binarization unit binarizes a reproduction signal obtained by reproducing information recorded by mark length recording on a recording medium to output high-level signals and low-level signals based on a slice level. The slice level setting unit calculates the average value of the high-level signals output from the binarization unit, and determines the slice level from the average value. The determined slice level is set to the binarization unit. Either the binarization unit or the slice level setting unit adds a predetermined weight to each signal having a short high-level time among the high-level signals.

    Abstract: Coplanar waveguides having a deep trench between a signal line and a ground plane and methods of their fabrication are disclosed. An oxide layer is provided over a silicon substrate and a photoresist is applied and patterned to define areas where the signal line and the ground plane will be formed. A barrier layer is provided over the oxide layer in the defined areas. A metal layer is then deposited over the barrier layer. An etch mask is deposited over the metal layer for the subsequent trench formation. The photoresist and the underlying portion of the oxide and barrier layers are removed and a deep trench is formed in the substrate between the signal line and the ground plane using etching through the mask.
