Abstract: A fluid transfer device for transferring fluid from a first fluid container to a second fluid container such as a piercing member protection device. The fluid transfer device can comprise a longitudinal axis A and a first connection part comprising a connector that connects to the first fluid container. The fluid transfer device can further comprise a second connection part rotatably mounted to the first connection part by a mounting element, and the second connection part can further comprise a threaded coupling that connects the second fluid container. The mounting element can enable turning of the second connection part with respect to the first connection part. Such a device can allow a user to safely turn e.g., a syringe after assembly to read a volume indication or similar.
Abstract: A syringe assembly comprises a syringe barrel having an elongated body defining a chamber for retaining fluid, an open proximal end, a distal end and a frusto-conically shaped tip extending from the distal end and having a passageway therethrough in fluid communication with the chamber. The chamber has an inside diameter of at least 13.5 mm. A stopper is in fluid-tight engagement inside the barrel. An elongated plunger rod extends proximally from the stopper through the open proximal end of the barrel. A flange is positioned at the proximal end of the plunger rod. The flange is shaped and positioned to limit the distal motion of the plunger rod in the barrel by contacting the proximal end of the barrel. A tip cap is releasably connected to the tip for sealing the passageway and the chamber contains injectable liquid.

Abstract: A syringe including a barrel and a plunger slidably disposed within the barrel is disclosed. A distal end of the barrel defines a roof, and an elongate tip, in fluid communication with the barrel, extends from the roof. A protrusion forming a ridge may be disposed on one of the roof of the barrel and the plunger head. When the plunger head contacts the roof, the protrusion forms a channel between the plunger head and the roof. The channel isolates fluid within the channel from the elongate tip, which in turn reduces the spray of fluid through the distal end of the syringe. In another embodiment to reduce the spray of fluid through the distal end of the syringe, an impulse reduction system may be used to reduce or prevent the proximal portion from applying a distally directed impulse to the distal portion after the breakable connection is broken.

Abstract: An encoder creates an (p,k,n) n-state codeword with p n-state symbols of which k n-state symbols are data symbols, an n-state symbol being represented by a signal with n>2, p>2 and k>(p?k). Intermediate states of an encoder in forward and in reverse direction are provided in a comparative n-state expression and implemented on a processor. A plurality of signals representing a codeword with at least one n-state symbol in error is processed by the processor by evaluating the comparative n-state expression. A partial result of an expression is determined after a symbol has been received. An error location and an error magnitude are determined. The error is corrected by the processor.
