  • Patent number: 4029267
Abstract: An improvement in a safety belt reel in which a pawl is moved when a predetermined acceleration is exceeded to lockably engage a toothed wheel. The improvement includes a flexible member which is moved when the predetermined acceleration is exceeded so as initially to engage a tooth on said toothed wheel before said pawl causes locking of the reel. The flexible member is movable relative to the pawl whereby any impact between said member and said tooth is absorbed without causing a reaction on an acceleration responsive actuator such as a ball and saucer, or suspended mass, so that the pawl is subsequently urged into correctly phased engagement with the toothed wheel to lock the reel.

  • Patent number: 4029282
Abstract: This invention relates to an assembly which is used for supporting objects on a wall surface and which is mounted on the wall surface to support the objects. The assembly includes a first or rail member which is mounted on the wall surface and which has a front member with a front surface which front surface is spaced from the wall surface by side walls and which is substantially parallel to the wall surface. The front surface includes a plurality of spaced openings which may be arranged along two rows with an opening in one row being disposed between two adjacent openings in the other row. The assembly also includes a clip means with a base member having a hanger means extending from one surface and hook means extending from the other surface. The hook means are spaced to match the spacing of the openings, and the space between the inner surface of each hook means and the other surface of the base is less than the thickness of the front member of the rail.

  • Patent number: 4029235
Abstract: A one-by-one pneumatic seeder with a seed dislodging member. A rotary seed dispenser disc defining a wall of a seed hopper has a perforate annular zone with an array of equidistant holes concentric with the axis of rotation of the dispenser disc. The annular zone rotates relative to the dislodging member which is disposed juxtaposed to the dispenser disc and gradually approaches, though never crossing the circle defined by the centers of the holes in the annular zone. A part circular suction chamber is disposed on the side of the dispenser disc opposite the dislodging member, the forward end of the suction chamber relative to the direction of rotation of the dispenser disc substantially coinciding with the portion of the dislodging member closest to the circle of hole centers. The seeds are thus gradually rocked by the dislodging member and loosened before arriving at the forward end of the suction chamber where they are released eventually by the cutting off of suction.

  • Patent number: 4028946
Abstract: A control lever assembly for controlled reciprocation of an operating member which may be a Bowden cable for regulating the flow rate of a pump supplying a hydraulic motor in a hydrostatic transmission. In addition to the usual pivotally mounted control lever, an intermediate lever is pivotally connected between the control lever and the operating member. The intermediate lever is received in a sleeve member which is pivotally mounted about a fixed axis spaced from the fixed axis about which the control lever pivots. The sensitivity of the control lever assembly is thus made smoother and more gradual proximate to the neutral or dead center position of the assembly.

  • Patent number: 4028727
Abstract: This invention relates to a mix/effects switch arrangement and a mix/effects switching system including the switch arrangement. The mix/effects switch arrangement includes five switches each of which has two input terminals, an output terminal and a control terminal. One of the switches is the output switch, and a first and second one of the remaining switches are serially arranged to constitute an input to one of the input terminals of the output switch. The remaining two switches are serially arranged in parallel to constitute the input to the other input terminal of the output switch. At least the output switch constitutes a soft switch, and, preferably, the two input switches also are soft switches. In the switching system, a source of first background video signal is applied to one input terminal of an input switch, and a source of second background video signal is applied to one input of the other input switch.

  • Patent number: 4027828
Abstract: A perforating machine for making tear lines in a woven or non-woven fiber sheet material. The machine comprises a feeder mechanism for feeding a web of sheet material. A roller assembly maintains the web stretched while a further roller imposes tension to the web along the longitudinal axis thereof. A perforating roll assembly is provided to cut fibers in the web along a line whereby to form a tear line substantially transverse to the direction of tension while maintaining the tension in the web. Traction rolls positively engage the web through the perforating roll assembly. An accumulator roll assembly receives the web after the tear lines have been made therein.

  • Patent number: 4027612
Abstract: The invention is directed to a metallic easy-opening can end, and to a method of manufacturing the same, the can end having a tear panel which is highly resistant to blowout pressure. The can end is first drawn between a preforming punch and a die to an outwardly open concave configuration, and is thereafter compression scored between a scoring punch and a scoring anvil to reduce the thickness of the drawn metal, thus forming the removable tear panel.

  • Patent number: 4027607
Abstract: A pulsed powder application system for electrostatically powder-coating a substrate comprises an applicator bed means, a fluidizing means, and a pulsing means. The pulsing means is actuable during a coating time to effect ionization of electrostatic powder particles so as to cause the establishment of an electric field attracting the particles to the substrate, and actuable during non-coating times to cause the establishment of a reverse electric field attracting the ionized particles away from the substrate. A feeder bed means and an associated fluidizing means are provided for holding the electrostatic powder prior to usage for coating by the applicator bed means.

  • Patent number: 4026405
Abstract: In printing data on paper sheets which are connected along lines of perforation, the paper advance relative to the printer is controlled to assure that the proper kind of data is printed in the appropriate area or areas of the sheet or sheets to which such kind of data has been assigned. Different levels of the sheet corresponding to these areas are identified by the number of spaces between such levels and the upper edge of the sheet and a control system is employed which monitors the position of the printing line with respect to the upper edge of the sheet and which controls the paper advance in accord with the levels of the areas.
