  • Patent number: 6098489
Abstract: A cable strand end-fitting having a housing which defines a longitudinal bore with internal threads to receive a screw member with external threads, the threads cooperate to allow axial movement of the screw member relative to the housing. A longitudinal passageway through the screw member receives a cable strand extending therethrough, one end of the cable strand is a terminal end bulb which abuts the screw member so the axial movement of the screw member adjusts the cable strand. The housing includes a mounting portion having a cylindrical opening generally perpendicular to the longitudinal bore, the cylindrical opening is adapted to be disposed over a mounting post along the longitudinal axis of the mounting post. A retainer clip secures the end-fitting to the mounting post with opposed locking teeth which are adapted to be positioned through diametrically opposed slots in the mounting portion of the housing thereby engaging the mounting post for securement.

  • Patent number: 6026682
Abstract: In an automated welding machine, where a flow of liquid coolant is supplied to welding components on the machine from a source of coolant and then returned to the source of coolant, a safety system is provided that shuts down the flow of coolant in the event of a fault. Faults are detected by a supply sensor and a return sensor for measuring the flow rates of coolant in the supply and return lines. A microprocessor is adapted to compare the supply flow rate and return flow rate and detect differences between the two rates. The difference between the detected rates as compared to a leak threshold value, and the microprocessor is adapted to generate a valve shutoff signal in the event the detected difference in flow rates exceeds the leak threshold value. A value in the supply coolant line is responsive to the valve shutoff signal to shutoff flow of coolant in response thereto.

  • Patent number: 5970999
Abstract: The hydraulic vacuum pump (HVP) uses a centrifugal water pump with unconventional inlet and outlet connections that cause unconventional patterns of fluid flow. Valves are not required for operation. The submerged pump outlet must be kept open and unobstructed to flow, and must also be no smaller in cross-sectional area than the submerged pump-inlets. The pump inlet branches into two openings, each for a distinctly different purpose. A submerged pump-priming inlet branch uses an orifice of predetermined size to assure minimum liquid flow while also controlling both rate and limit of air extraction. The other inlet opening is connected to a fixed priming-siphon from which air is extracted as it is mixed with liquid in the pump in a novel automatic, pressure-activated cyclic action, and freely expelled in the outflow.

  • Patent number: 5967502
Abstract: A pneumatically powered clamp that completely encloses the actuating linkage assembly in a fluid-tight, lubricated environment. The clamp includes a pneumatic cylinder longitudinally and removably secured to a plastic body by brackets. The body has a bore to receive a piston rod, and a cavity in communication with the bore. The cavity allows room for the linkage assembly to be pivotally held and cooperate in the body. The bracket substantially seals the body needing only a nylon washer to establish a fluid-tight seal. The linkage means converts the linear motion of the piston rod into rotational motion in the clamp arms which are securely held outside the brackets.
