  • Patent number: 5961109
Abstract: The clamp is a locked over-center toggle clamp having a toggle lever that actuates a clamp arm between clamped and released positions. An amplification lever is secured to a cam pivot for rotation of the cam pivot inside a base. One end of the clamp arm is pivoted to the cam pivot to act as a follower so that rotation of the cam pivot cams the clamp arm to amplify the hold-down force of the toggle clamp.

  • Patent number: 5904349
Abstract: A plunger clamp capable of locking in either a retracted or extended position having a rigid body slidably supporting an elongated plunger. A bifurcated lever is pivotally connected inside the body and to a V shaped link arm, the link arm is pivotally connected to the plunger where the link arm translates the angular motion of the lever to drive the plunger between the retracted and extended positions. Essentially the entire linkage assembly is housed in cavities formed by the body during actuation of the lever.

  • Patent number: 5899440
Abstract: A diaphragm valve having a diaphragm functioning as a valve body. Unlike the conventional valve of this type, the retainer for pressing the sealing section of the diaphragm against the valve seat is provided with a predetermined number of rectangular apertures or concave portions at specified positions thereon so that when the valve is operated in a low temperature atmosphere or a high temperature atmosphere, the diaphragm is prevented from sticking firmly to the valve sheet due to freezing or heating thereby allowing the valve to perform an accurate valve opening operation without changing its pressure and flow rate characteristics.

  • Patent number: 5895051
Abstract: A rack seal for use with a rack bushing and seal retainer wherein the rack bushing is made of a thermoplastic material and includes a face with a plurality of cooling cavities. The rack seal includes a body member, an annular sealing face, and a retainer air side which is in constant contact with the thermoplastic bushing cavity face. The rack seal air side surface includes a bead segment. The bead segment has a predetermined height which creates a minimum contact at a full gap with the rack bushing and is compressible to a minimum gap with the rack bushing. The bead segment of the rack seal is in constant contact with the thermoplastic bushing such that any objectionable noises are eliminated during any separation of the rack seal and the thermoplastic bushing.

  • Patent number: 5890406
Abstract: An improved combined torque limiting and part marking wrench according to the present invention includes: a torque-applying handle; a housing pivotally mounted to the handle, the housing adapted to receive a releasably mounted, replaceable, part-engaging head assembly at a second end thereof; and a part-marking mechanism mounted within the housing. The part-marking mechanism includes a marking tip which passes through a bore in the head assembly for marking a part. A mechanical linkage arm is pivotally connected to the torque-applying handle. A pivotable cam is pivotally connected to the linkage arm and in operative engagement with the part-marking mechanism for moving the marking tip through the bore, such that, when torque on a part has reached a predetermined value, the torque applying handle moves the linkage arm, which pivots the pivotable cam, thus forcing the pivotable cam against the part marking mechanism, which causes the marking tip to extend outwardly from the housing to mark the part.

  • Patent number: 5890792
Abstract: A sun visor or other accessory for a motor vehicle. The sun visor includes a body made of rigid foam in which various structures (such as a support pin, detent and pivot arm) are insert molded. The foam has a rigidity which is sufficient to support said sun visor without requiring any additional reinforcing structures such as a support frame, support wire or centerboard. The pivot arm and detent are provided within a casing that prevents the foam from affecting the operation of the detent. Also insert molded into the body of the visor are mounts for an illuminated vanity. Terminals from a power supply are mounted in predetermined positions relative to the body so that when the vanity is mounted to the body, contacts coupled to a lamp and mounted to the vanity in predetermined positions, are caused engage the terminals.

  • Patent number: 5890573
Abstract: The invention relates to a coupling unit having a viscous coupling A and a friction coupling B. The coupling housing 29 of the friction coupling B is connected to the input and the hub 12 of the viscous coupling A to the output. Between the end face of the housing 17 of the viscous coupling A and the end face of the pressure plate 28 of the friction coupling B there are provided setting means 27 in the form of ramps. Up to a predetermined torque value, the torque is transmitted from the coupling housing 29 to the hub 12, i.e. it is transmitted only by the viscous coupling A to the hub 12 and the plug-in shaft connected thereto, and after the predetermined torque has been exceeded, torque is additionally transmitted by the friction coupling B via the coupling hub 48 to the plug-in shaft also connected to the latter.
