  • Patent number: 5365901
Abstract: An engine cover assembly for use in an internal combustion engine. The engine cover includes a composite plastic body and low creep material for the flange section of the engine cover. The low creep material allows for a low incident of creep at the bolts which secure the engine cover to the head of the engine. This insures the bolts will not loosen due to the degradation of the material to which the bolt is tightened. A mechanical or chemical lock is used to secure the plastic cover to the low creep material flange portion of the engine cover, The engine cover reduces the weight and the engine noise associated with the internal combustion engine.

  • Patent number: 5355574
Abstract: Tool for installing and removing anti-friction skate wheel bearings press fit in plastic skate wheels. A tubular shouldered split end passing through the inner race provides bearing engagement when spread by retraction of a conically headed rod projecting beyond the split end. A threaded end of the rod projecting beyond tube is retracted by a threaded knob reacting against the end of the tube, and the tube with bearing is retracted by rotating knob fixed on the tube to feed a threaded portion of the tube through a threaded collar reacting against a side of the wheel. For installing a bearing, it is retracted into a press fit cavity in the skate wheel; and for removing the bearing it is oppositely retracted by the same split end tube extension when spread by the conically headed rod and rotated in the collar.

  • Patent number: 5237855
Abstract: A method and apparatus for leak testing a fluid containing chamber wherein the chamber is pressurized with a gas and is submerged in a liquid. The bubbles of gas rising from the submerged chamber are directed past a plurality of a predetermined locations that are each in optical communication with a photoelectric detector. The signals from the detectors are counted and when the number of bubbles exceeds a predetermined number, a signal is activated indicating a leaking container. By grouping a number of adjacent photoelectric detectors into a predetermined set, the apparatus can discriminate between random bubbles rising from the chamber surface as it is submerged and a number of bubbles all originating from a given location indicating a leak. The photoelectric detectors may be positioned in the liquid adjacent the predetermined locations or positioned out of the liquid and coupled to the predetermined locations by fiber optic cables.

  • Patent number: RE34731
Abstract: Digital level sensing probe system including digital probe constructed of two (2) concentric cylinders, forming a set of discrete, cylindrical capacitors that use the substance whose level is to be measured as a dielectric material. The set of capacitors is arranged along the axis of measurement where each capacitor represents a discrete level increment. Each capacitor is assigned a unique time slot in a switching sequence. The first level capacitor is used as a reference to which all other capacitors are sequentially compared. In the switching sequence, an AC signal is applied across each capacitor and compared with the inverted signal which is applied across the first level capacitor. A logic "1" results when the substance is present and a logic "0" when the substance is absent. The logic is decoded and converted to display the appropriate quantity of substance measured.
