  • Patent number: 8288047
Abstract: A fuel cell system includes an idle stop unit, a discharger, a power-generation-state memory, and an initial-current-value setter. The idle stop unit is configured to stop a supply of the reactant gas to a fuel cell. The discharger is configured to allow the fuel cell to generate the electric power with the reactant gas remaining in the fuel cell after the idle stop unit stops the supply of the reactant gas and is configured to discharge electric current to a current receiver. The power-generation-state memory is configured to store a power-generation state of the fuel cell immediately before the idle stop unit stops the supply of the reactant gas. The initial-current-value setter is configured to set an initial current value of the fuel cell discharged by the discharger on a basis of the power-generation state of the fuel cell stored in the power-generation-state memory.

  • Patent number: 8285859
Abstract: An approach is provided for managing symmetric and asymmetric communication among information spaces with respect to their distributed nature. An information space is composed of semantic information brokers that handle internal processes of the information space. One or more of the semantic information brokers compute a stability factor corresponding to each of a plurality of semantic information brokers in an information space. The one or more semantic information brokers then select one or more of the plurality of semantic information brokers as a master semantic information broker based on the computed stability factors. The one or more master semantic information brokers manage communication among the plurality of semantic information brokers.

  • Patent number: 8285846
Abstract: Systems, apparatuses and methods for determining success rates for the transfer and/or utilization of transmitted applications or other communicated services. An intermediary device specifies one or more device attributes of a target device, which are received at a server. The server determines an anticipated success rate for successfully transferring the requested content to the device and/or utilizing the content at the target device, and transfers an indication of the anticipated success rate to the intermediary device. The anticipated success rate indication is received at the intermediary device, which then determines whether the received anticipated success rate indication meets threshold criteria. If so, the intermediary device notifies the server to initiate the transfer of the content from the server to the target device if the threshold criteria is met.
