  • Patent number: 7326684
Abstract: The present invention is related to novel bioactive pentapeptides, pentarphins, the main indication of which is enhancing phagocytic activity of macrophages against microbes. In particular, the cyclopentapeptide, cyclo(Val-Lys-Gly-Phe-Tyr), termed cyclopeptarphin, was 100 times more active than tuftsin. Cyclopentarphin was non-toxic even at concentrations 1000 times higher than the minimum active dose, while being non-immunogenic. Furthermore, cyclopentarphin is more stable to enzymatic cleavage in vitro as compared to linear pentarphin and tuftsin and, hence, its life span in vivo is also larger than that of linear peptides. High efficacy and safety of cyclopentarphin enable elaboration of novel drugs that enhance the resistance of human and animal organisms to microbes and micro particles.

  • Patent number: 7267254
Abstract: A holder device designed for clasping containers of glue and primer used by plumbers for installing and repairing pipes. The main frame of the holder device is a unit member made of flexible material and further comprising a vertical arm and a horizontal member. The vertical arm has an upper end tongue and a free elongated portion at the lower end. The upper end tongue ends with a hook enabling the plumber to adjust the devise on a belt. The holder device also has through rectangular hole in the arm designed for hanging the devise on supporting structures. The elongated portion of the lower end of the arm facilitates this function while bringing more stability and increasing the useful life of the holder device. The horizontal member has a carrying part with clasps, designed for holding glue and primer containers by pressure grip. Use of the holder device facilitates the movement and decreases the oscillation and instability while carrying and hanging primer and glue containers.

  • Patent number: 7238853
Abstract: The present invention provides a molecular mechanism for gene containment in sexually reproducing transgenic plants. The mechanism is achieved with a molecular construct comprising a blocking construct (BC) that is inserted fully or partially into an intron of a transgene of interest (TGI). The TGI encodes desired gene products, such as heterologous or homologous proteins, peptides or other useful products. The expression of the BC leads to block of at least one molecular or physiological function that is essential for development or reproduction of the transgenic plant. Thereby the BC expression leads to death or incapacity of sexual reproduction of the plant. Moreover, the mechanism comprises an externally applicable recovering tool to recover the functions blocked by the BC. The recovering tool may be a recovering construct (RC).

  • Patent number: 7195677
Abstract: The wipe-dispensing device comprises a dispenser or container that keeps wipes isolated from the exterior of the device. The wipes are kept in the interior compartment of the dispenser or container. The top or lid of the device isolates the wipes in the interior compartment from the exterior of the device. This top or lid also secures the container from air, and seals the interior and exterior compartments of the device. Wipes are exposed when user manually presses a button on the lid or activates a sliding door which in turn shall expose the wiping surface of the wipe inside of the container. Therefore, the rest of the wipes are not exposed to the exterior, only the wipe that is in use. User may manually handle the device, expose the wipe for cleaning the desired surface, and thereafter user may pull the wipe and detach it from the device by tearing it off with a cutter slot of the device.

  • Patent number: 7028560
Abstract: A method to linearly measure the flow of a gas in ducts, and a gas flow sensor using such a method are disclosed. In order to obtain a linear ratio between the differential pressure and the volumetric flow of a gas, a rectangular section elbow and a rectangular flexible plate located inside the elbow are used. When the flow goes through the duct linearization is obtained by combining the resistance of the duct and a variable-area obstruction caused by the plate. With linearization, it is possible to expand the measurement range of the gas flow in one duct. The sensor developed is used especially for the measurement of respiratory flow in medical applications.

  • Patent number: 6849776
Abstract: The invention is related to a method and a DNA construct for controlling transgene segregation in a sexually reproducing multicellular organism (SRMO), especially in such SRMOs which are susceptible of interbreeding with their cultured or wild-type relatives. The method and construct allows the farmer to reuse the transgenic crop without risk for escape of the transgene into the environment. The DNA construct is a recoverable block of function (RBF) system comprising at least one blocking construct (BC), and at least one means for recovering the blocked functions. The BC has a capacity of blocking at least one molecular or physiological function essential for the development and/or reproductive cycle of the SRMO. The BC is closely linked to the transgene of intereset (TGI). The blocked function is recoverable by an external treatment or intervention, which is optionally combined with one or more recovering constructs (RC).
