The first compactor will have a first ram assembly and a first hydraulic valve, with the ram assembly having a first cell and a second cell. The first hydraulic valve is operatively connected with the hydraulic fluid supply, as well as the first and second cell. The system will contain a second compactor adapted for containing a hydrocarbon refuse such as oil filters. The second compactor contains a second ram assembly and a second hydraulic valve, with the second ram assembly having a first cell and a second cell. The second compactor will include a second hydraulic valve that is operatively connected, and in series arrangement with, the first hydraulic valve. The compactor will also comprise a grinder having a blade member contained therein. The blade member is responsive to the hydraulic supply that is fed to a hydraulic motor.

  • Patent number: 6024394
Abstract: An apparatus for releasing an attached load, with the load being attached with a sling is described. Generally, the apparatus comprises a plate having an underside face, and a latch member, operatively associated with the underside face, for latching and unlatching the sling from the load. The apparatus may contain an activating line attached with the latch member, and activating member, operatively associated with the activating line, for activating the latch member. In the preferred embodiment, the latch member comprises a first member mounted on the plate, with the member having an opening therein, a second member mounted on the plate, with the member having an opening therein, and a third member mounted on the plate, with the member having an opening therein. A load pin is placed within the openings. A fulcrum point is provided so that the load pin may be pivoted for latching and unlatching. A gravity centering system is also included that allows for a single point release system.

  • Patent number: 6015018
Abstract: An apparatus for creating a pulling force on a bottom hole assembly contained within a bore hole is disclosed. Generally, the apparatus comprises a housing, a piston having a first section and a second section, and a venturi member, operatively associated with the piston, adapted for creating a zone of low pressure. In one embodiment, the housing is attached to a work string and the piston is attached to a bottom hole assembly. The first section of the piston and the housing forms a first chamber. The second section of the piston and the housing forms a second chamber. The venturi member contains a first passageway for communicating the zone of low pressure created by the venturi member with the first chamber; and a second passageway for communicating the inner diameter of the venturi means with the second chamber.

  • Patent number: 6004086
Abstract: A breakable-stem blind rivet (5) is having a mandrel (10) with an enlarged head (12) which is positioned in a shell (20). Before the beginning of the setting operation, the shell (20) is having an exterior diameter which at all points is smaller than the interior diameter of the hole (4) in which the breakable-stem blind rivet is to be set. The breakable-stem blind rivet therefore without any preformed set head has basically the form of a hollow cylinder. Preferably the shell (20) on both sides of a central section (21) is provided with areas (23, 25) in which the shell (20) is more easily deformable than in the central section (21). An apparatus for setting the breakable-stem blind rivets of this kind is provided with a workpiece pressing means (32) surrounding a mouth piece (30) which with respect to the mouth piece (30) is relatively movable and is exerting a force onto the front side of the workpiece.

  • Patent number: 5964763
Abstract: A fully implantable, incrementally adjustable osteotomy fixation apparatus is disclosed. The apparatus comprises a first plate member, and a second plate member being telescopically received within the first plate member. The osteotomy fixation apparatus may further comprise a ratchet assembly, operatively associated with the first and second plate member, which allows for advancement of the first plate member relative to the second plate member, but prevents retraction. Attachment means operatively associated with the first and second plate members are provided for attaching the apparatus to the bone. The apparatus may also include an external extension brace, operatively associated with the ratchet, for extending the second plate member relative to the first plate member so that post-operative angular correction of the bone may be achieved. A method of performing an osteotomy to the bone is also disclosed utilizing the fixation apparatus herein disclosed.
