  • Patent number: 5426095
Abstract: The cyclic Isolongifolanone ketals of the general formula A wherein the wavy lines mean .alpha.- and .beta.-configuration and R,R' mean radicals of hydrogen, methyl or ethyl, are new. With preference they are used either as odorants or as components of perfume compositions. They are manufactured from Isolongifolene which is itself produced from Longifolene as is well known. Isolongifolene is oxydized to Isolongifolene-3-on and this is reacted with aliphatic 1,2-diols in apolar solvents with the separation of water.

  • Patent number: 5415610
Abstract: In a frame with a horizontal bed (10) and a vertical upright (12) there is for bracing and stiffening a vertical rigid wall (14) rigidly with the bed (10) and the upright (12) connected. The bed (10), the upright (12) and the wall (14) are cast as a single piece of a polymerizable resin-concrete. The wall (14) provides the frame with a high bend and torsional stiffness at a low weight. The wall (14) additionally serves to receive guides and bearing arrangements for functional elements of the machine tool, which by this means can be disposed spatially one above the other.

  • Patent number: 5416407
Abstract: An electric current sensor employing a Hall effect generator to be used in measuring electrical currents flowing in an electrical conductor. The sensor comprises an amplifier, a constant current source, a gapped toroid core mounted on the component side of a printed circuit board (PCB), a Hall effect generator extending via its output leads from the PCB into the gap of the toroid core, and an inductive loop positioned at the edge of the gap of the toroid core. The inductive loop itself comprises a simple trace formed on the component side of the PCB together with its plated-through-holes extending from the component of the PCB to the printed circuit (clad) side of the PCB. The PCB inductive loop placed at the edge of the gap of the toroid core and connected in series opposition to the output leads of the Hall effect generator, compensates for the unwanted induced voltages in the output leads of the Hall generator.

  • Patent number: 5400922
Abstract: An electric autoinflator for inflating inflatable devices such as personal flotation devices, life rafts, buoys and emergency signalling equipment. The electric autoinflator comprises an actuator assembly including a fusible link. A water-sensing electrical circuit and battery supplies electrical current to the fusible link actuator assembly upon immersion in water for a predetermined period of time. Upon fusing of the link, the actuator assembly forcibly causes a firing pin of the inflator to pierce the frangible seal of a compressed gas cartridge. The escaping gas then inflates the inflatable device.

  • Patent number: 5392066
Abstract: An in-store advertising system for displaying advertisements involves preparing graphical art from the actual products or from flat art, for each advertised product. Each frame is stored in computer memory as a digital graphics file. As desired, pricing and advertising copies are added as overlays to the digital art of each frame. Control data is defined for each frame indicating its destination location(s) and the run time for each destination location. The digital graphic files containing a digital frame and the respective control data for each frame are then loaded into an uplink control computer. The control data is analyzed by the uplink computer to compute an adlist which lists the digital frames and their respective destination locations. The uplink control computer is interfaced to a satellite addressable network control system (ANCS) to unmute the desired satellite receiver(s) at the remote location(s), based upon a predefined transmission script.

  • Patent number: 5353606
Abstract: An apparatus and method is disclosed for an improved air conditioning system for admitting air from an exterior space, adjusting the temperature and humidity of the exterior air, delivering the adjusted air to an interior space of a structure, removal of exhaust air therefrom and return of the exhaust air to the exterior space and wherein a regenerative desiccant is provided for removing water vapor from the air to be delivered to the interior space and delivering the water vapor to the exhaust air stream and a heat exchanger is provided for removing sensible heat from the air to be delivered to the interior space and transferring the sensible heat to the exhaust air stream. The apparatus combines for the first time electric air conditioning reheat and solar energy with desiccant technology, thereby furnishing conditioned air at an 80% reduction of energy cost. The apparatus for the first time allows the use of waste oil heat to furnish conditioned air at an 80% reduction in energy cost.

  • Patent number: 5339559
Abstract: A fishing lure for improved securement of the bait to the hook comprising a hook of an essentially rigid material which has a central linear portion and a curved portion at the outboard free portion terminating in a barb at the free end and an upturned inboard portion terminating in a first eyelet. A head is formed of a material which has a specific gravity greater than water to allow, when coupled with the hook, the sinking thereof. The head is in an oval shaped configuration and covers that portion of the inboard and central portions of the hook where the inboard portion bends from the central portion. The first eyelet is located at the inboard end of the hook exterior of the head. A generally cylindrical extension extends outboardly from the head along a minor extent of the central portion of the hook. The outboard end of the cylindrical extension terminates in a radial projection to assist in maintaining the bait on the hook in contact with the cylindrical extension of the head.

  • Patent number: 5329795
Abstract: A precision bending press for relatively short pieces of sheet metal includes a pair of tool-holder beams one of which is movable towards the other in order to follow a working path in the general common plane of the beams. The movable beam is subdivided, at least virtually, into a number n of segments and is controlled by a plurality of actuators of a number at least equal to n+1. The actuators are connected to a reaction structure stressed by the overall forming force created by the actuators. The actuators are controlled by means of a processing unit which receives signals indicative of the relative punch--die position generated by position transducers supported by an auxiliary structure which is not affected substantially by the deformations of the reaction structure caused by the bending force. The reaction structure comprises a single pair of lateral uprights connected to one another by a connecting beam and by the fixed tool-holder beam.
