  • Patent number: 4421314
Abstract: Game apparatus having a game board defining a triangular playing surface with a predetermined number of triangular areas formed on the playing surface. A plurality of overlapping hexagons are defined by the triangular areas, each of the hexagons being formed by six of the triangular areas positioned to have a common apex. Predetermined ones of the triangular areas are marked with a number from one through six, and plural sets of distinguishable playing pieces and dice are provided. Two players compete by alternately rolling the dice and by a combination of chance and skill seek to move a minimum of seven playing pieces across the board.

  • Patent number: 4408100
Abstract: A position load distribution (PLD) and management system for use with an existing key telephone system (KTS) wherein the KTS typically has a plurality of incoming lines and a plurality of agent-serviced positions. The PLD directs an incoming call to an available position which has been idle the longest since its last on-line condition by directing that position to answer the call. The PLD system of this invention can be fitted to an existing KTS without modifying the KTS equipment except for substitution of special line cards for the KTS line cards. If an agent does not answer the incoming call in a predetermined time or all agent positions are busy, the system will automatically answer the call, provide a pre-recorded message and place the call on "hold" until an agent's position becomes available. When an agent's position becomes available the PLD system will direct that position to answer the call.

  • Patent number: 4387699
Abstract: An efficient space heating stove having a combustion chamber substantially completely enclosed with insulating firebrick whereby the operating temperatures within the combustion chamber can be maintained above the ignition temperature of the fuel being consumed. Combustible gases liberated by the wood fuel are burned as they pass through a perforated, hollow, tubular member located within the combustion chamber and through which the combustible gases must pass before they are exhausted from the stove. Fuel within the combustion chamber is efficiently burned before useful heat energy is extracted.

  • Patent number: 4265021
Abstract: A distance measuring instrument having a pair of identical, substantially planar, juxtaposed measuring members wherein each measuring member includes an elongated base and a distance measuring scale or indicator located on the base. An arm projects from an end of each base, and each arm defines a first measuring surface for making "outside" measurements and a second measuring surface for making "inside" measurements. A spring or other elastic member is attached to and extends between each arm for urging the first measuring surfaces toward each other. A handle may also project from the base of each measuring member for enabling the user to operate the instrument with one hand, leaving the other hand free to hold the object being measured.

  • Patent number: 4246883
Abstract: An archery bow having a handle, an inner pair of bow limbs projecting outwardly from opposite ends of the handle and an outer pair of bow limbs projecting outwardly from opposite ends of the handle. A cable is connected to ends of the inner bow limbs and through the handle via a pulley system. A cocking mechanism is attached to an end of the cable and is mounted at an end of one of the inner bow limbs for enabling the archer to increase tension on the cable whereby the inner bow limbs are stressed and placed in a cocked position. A release mechanism is mounted at an end of one of the outer bow limbs. When the archer draws and releases the bow string extending between the outer limbs, the release mechanism triggers the cocking mechanism to release the inner bow limbs which act in cooperation with the outer bow limbs whereby increased thrust is imparted to the arrow.

  • Patent number: 4237872
Abstract: Portable apparatus is provided for use by a rescuer in administering cardiopulmonary resuscitation to a patient or for use as a training aid in the application of cardiopulmonary resuscitation. A light weight, inflatable, fluid-filled, foam or other resilient cushion has a pressure gauge attached thereto, and the cushion is placed on the patient's chest. Force is applied by the rescuer onto the cushion and the pressure gauge displays the force applied so as to enable the rescuer to observe and control the force being applied to the patient's chest. A timer may also be provided with the pressure gauge to enable the rescuer to properly time the application and release of force to the patient's chest.

  • Patent number: 4137672
Abstract: A window construction is provided having a window frame with horizontal top and bottom members extending between vertical side members. The horizontal members define surfaces that slant downwardly and outwardly with respect to the frame at a predetermined angle. Window units are positioned within the frame and each unit includes a sash having horizontal elements extending between vertical side elements. The horizontal elements of each window unit define surfaces that slant downwardly and outwardly with respect to the frame at said predetermined angle. When in place, the slanting surfaces of the window units contact the slanting surfaces of the window frame to provide a weathertight seal. Fastening means are provided to enable each window unit to be individually placed into position within and removed from the frame.
