Abstract: A tester responsive to repetitive impact blows. A brake is interposed between an impact target and a base to exert a frictional braking force on the target so the effectiveness of repetitive blows on the target can be assessed.
Abstract: A conventional harvest bin carrying grapes is transported to a winery onboard a flatbed trailer and is emptied by tipping the bin on end so that the grapes tumble over the side of the trailer into a conveyor. The modification of the present invention permits the bins to be emptied into a dump truck at the vineyard by a forklift equipped with a rotator attachment. This permits the bins to remain at the vineyard where they can immediately be reused, thereby greatly increasing the efficiency with which the bins are used. The modification consists of permanently adding a receiver tube to the bin so that an elongated trunnion beam can be removably inserted through the receiver tube to a position at which end portions of the trunnion beam protrude beyond the ends of the receiver tube to serve as trunnions for use in lifting and rotating the harvest bin. The elongated trunnion beam can readily be removed when the bin is to be used in the conventional manner.
Abstract: A ballcock valve with a cap having an opening, and in the opening an axial groove. A valve control has a neck that fits in the opening, and a tooth that fits in the groove, so that when a shoulder on the cap and on the valve control abut, the valve control can be rotated to hold it to the cap. When the cap is fixed to a base, a control diaphragm is properly positioned relative to the base and to a valve seat on the base.
Abstract: Described is a self-cleaning filter for a liquid stream confined in a pipe 20. The filter includes a porous ceramic filter body 30 having a power source 35 attached thereto. Upstream from the filter body a helical rib 50 and a sump drain tube 42 are provided. In operation, as the filter becomes clogged, an electrical current is applied causing the ceramic body to exhibit ultrasonic transducer properties which dislodge particulates from its upstream face 31. At the same time, a sump valve 41 is opened to remove the particulate-rich liquid. The helical rib imparts a rotary motion which creates a rotary flow component across the upstream face of the filter.
Abstract: A cable to translate a magnetic field from one end to the other end of the cable. The cable includes a plurality of axially-extending strands of magnetic core, individually surrounded by non-magnetic claddings, the strands being parallel and coherently arranged. The cable can usefully be placed in a passage through a barrier in structural and fluid sealing relationships with its wall to translate the image of a magnetic field from one side of the wall to the other.
Abstract: A drain grate in an opening to a drain system which retains trash and debris upstream from the opening while permitting slow flow of water, and which opens completely when confronted with high rates of flow.
Abstract: A solvent mixture to disperse or dissolve a copolymer of methyl-trifluoropropyl siloxane and dimethylsiloxane, the solvent mixture comprising perchlorethylene, a selected acid ester, and a selected ketone. The invention also comprehends the combination of copolymer and solvent mixture.
Abstract: An apparatus and process for obtaining representative samples of fluids produced from one or more oil wells by means of a closed vessel chamber with lease water supply port connected to a lease water supply line, where a pressure sensor within such internal chamber is used together with a flowmeter and liquid-sensing probe or oil/water interface sensor employed in the fluid flow path lines to determine a rate of well production along with absolute or relative amounts of oil, water and gas contents.
Abstract: A mixture consisting essentially of dry trichloroisocyanuric acid, dry surfactant particles, and bulking agents is disclosed. The mixture serves as a quickly dissolving chlorine release mixture used in shock treatment of substantial bodies of water. The surfactant is provided to wet the trichloroisocyanuric acid particles and facilitate their quick solution into the water.
Abstract: A system for use with a hot oil fryer of the type which cooks food porducts in hot oil, in which particulates from the food are shed into the hot oil in the fry during the cooking operation, the fryer having an inlet to receive hot oil, and an outlet for recirculation of hot oil.

Abstract: Positioning apparatus to place a reference point at selected locations in a plane. Two carriages are independently mounted to a carriage rail. The rail bears location references and the carriage carry sensors responsive to them to learn their positions along the carriage rail. Guideways and guide rails are mounted in pairs to a respective carriage and to an interface member bearing the reference point. They form an angle between them such that the interface member moves in the plane as a function of the locations of the carriages along the axis and relative to each other. Drivers drive the carriages in response to commands related to the location of the carriages.
