Abstract: This invention is directed at a bicycle lock which is positioned within the frame, front riser post or seat support post, of the bicycle and secure from external compromise by ordinary handtools. In one embodiment, a key actuated slotted rotary engagement locking disk selectively engages and disengages a slotted locking disk affixed to the axle of the pedal crank. In another embodiment, a key actuated rack and pinion combination cooperates with a slotted disk on the pedal crank axle to lock and unlock the pedal crank. In another embodiment of the invention a supplemental external locking system for locking the bike to a post or the like is provided which is used in conjunction with the internally positioned locking systems.
Abstract: The particular embodiment described herein as illustrative of one form of the invention incorporates a round elongated handle sized for holding in the fisted grip of a person. A shield is positioned on top of the handle and extends radially outwardly therefrom to an extent sufficient to substantially shield the fisted hand of a person gripping the handle. An opening in the center of the shield communicates with a cavity in the handle for receiving a test tube therein. When transferring fluids from a syringe to a test tube, one inserts the test tube into the cavity in the handle and then inserts a syringe needle into the upper end of the test tube with the other hand. If the person performing the operation were to miss the end of the test tube with the needle, the hand of the person holding the device holding the test tube would be shielded from the needle. A ridge on the outer peripheral edge of the shield will pervent a needle from sliding off the edge of the shield should the needle strike the shield.
Abstract: A process for the cross-linking of olefin-polymers such as polyethylene which comprises reacting the polymer with a free radical generator to form a polymer having free radicals and reacting the polymer having free radicals with a tetrafunctional organo zirconate which has at least one functional group that is reactive with the free radicals on the polymer followed by contact thereof with moisture or water, optionally in the presence of a condensation reaction catalyst.
Abstract: A mechanism for permitting a shift lever to be stowed away when it is not being used to operate a shiftable mechanism in a motor vehicle. The mechanism may be attached to shifting apparatus already in place in a vehicle or provided as original equipment. The mechanism has first and second portions that are slidably arranged so that in a first position the shift lever is rigidly connected to the shiftable mechanism and in a second position the shift lever is moved to an out of the way, (stowed position), near the floor of the vehicle. A slot on one of the sliding portions and a pair of pins on the other sliding portion are arranged to permit easy selective movement from the rigid to the stowed position. A biasing spring is connected between the sliding portions to releasably hold the lever in which ever position it is moved to.
Abstract: A device to aid in the teaching of a good or correct golf swing. The device is a generally wedge shaped bar which, when attached to the bottom outer edge of the shoe, causes the foot to tilt inwardly and forwardly simultaneously. The golfer thereby achieves a correct golf stance which is vital to a good golf swing. Through use of the device in practice over a period of time, the leg and foot muscles become toned or conditioned to automatically assume the correct stance when the golfer addresses the ball.
Abstract: Apparatus for crushing waste containers such as cans, oil filters, and the like. The apparatus includes a platform having a drain leading to a reservoir below the platform; a vertical support frame secured to the platform and having two spaced apart vertical columns joined together, near the top thereof, by a horizontal member; a hydraulic ram mounted on said horizontal member, a ram head secured to the lower end of the hydraulic ram adapted for downward and upward movement; and a compartment for receiving waste containers. The base of the compartment is secured to the platform and the sidewalls thereof are secured to the vertical support frame. The compartment has an opening for introducing a waste container onto the platform and removing the container after crushing and a piercing device for puncturing containers placed in the compartment. A hydraulic pump mounted on the platform and connected to the hydraulic ram causes upward and downward movement of the ram head.
Abstract: An animal tether comprising a base plate, a ground stake which extends through the base plate at about a 90.degree. angel, the upper end of the ground stake projecting beyond the upper surface of the base plate and the lower end of the stake adapted to project into the ground for positive engagement with the ground, an upright tubular member which cooperatively slides over the upper end of the ground stake so as to freely rotate around the stake, the tubular member having a bend or curve of about 5.degree. to 45.degree. relative to the ground stake, a flexible rod, the lower end of which is secured into the upper end of the tubular member, the upper end of the flexible rod being fitted with a guide for receiving a tether line, and a tether line, one end of which is secured to the tubular member and the other end is threaded through the guide and secured to the animal.

Abstract: A method for the manufacture of a packaged pet collar which includes preparing a blended composition of a vinylic resin, an ectoparasiticidally effective amount of recrystallized phosmet and a plasticizer, extruding the composition into a continuous length, cutting the extruded length into individual segments, affixing a buckle, and thereafter packaging the resultant pet collar in a pouch of spunbonded olefin. The packaged collar is characterized by the absence of offensive mercaptan type odor upon opening the package.
Abstract: An oil-in-water pesticidal emulsion concentrate comprising an active ingredient selected from fluvalinate, permethrin, cypermethrin, deltamethrin, fenpropathrin and fenvalerate; polyvinyl alcohol; and optional amounts of surfactant and ethylene or propylene glycol having freeze-thaw stability, 50 degrees centigrade stability and water dispersability.
