  • Patent number: 4008300
Abstract: A method for making a multi-conductor element includes forming a plurality of holes in an elastomeric base using a laser or mechanical technique to perforate the base and filling each of the holes with a slurry of conductive material in an uncured liquid vehicle. The filling step may be accomplished either by the force of a roller press while the slurry is applied or by stretching the base to expand the holes after which the slurry is applied to the latter followed by release of the base after the vehicle has cured, and in either case the ends of the conductive portions in the holes will bulge slightly above the surfaces of the base. An article manufactured using the method has a capacity or conductive density of at least approximately 11,500 conductive portions per square inch of base.

  • Patent number: 3998448
Abstract: Two vertically aligned elevators, each being adapted to support a stack of blanks, elevate the blanks to a magnetic blank separator and conveyor. A releasable stack support on the upper of the elevators is operative to release the stack held thereby when the stack on the lower elevator is elevated subjacent the stack of the upper elevator, with the lower elevator then supporting the merged stack of both elevators. The stack support on the upper elevator engages beneath the merged stack at a predetermined height of the lower of said elevators to permit the latter to return for another stack. A stack height sensing device automatically alternately controls the vertical movement of the elevators when supporting the merged stack for continuous upward movement of the same for separation and lift-off. A double thickness detector is provided in combination with an ejector to ensure the conveying of only one blank at a time from the top of the stack.

  • Patent number: 3999126
Abstract: A test clip suitable for connection to a plurality of terminals at which appear respective logic signals representing those occurring in logic circuits provides an indication of the logic level of such signals. The circuit for effecting such indication is entirely self-contained requiring no external power source or grounding connection and includes a plurality of respective input lines connectable to such terminals with a respective indicator shunted by a reverse poled diode connected to each input line and one common connection for all the diodes and indicators. Thus, for example, a logic 1 signal occurring on one of the input lines will effect a current flow through a respective indicator to change the state thereof with a return current flow path being provided from the common connection through at least one of the shunting diodes connected to another input line then at logic 0 relatively ground potential.

  • Patent number: 3995133
Abstract: An adjustable cycling switch has one condition for direct application of power to the primary winding of a transformer coupled at its secondary to energize a magnetron that provides microwaves in a microwave oven or the like. The cycling switch also has a second condition for variable adjustment to provide for periodic cyclical energization of the mentioned transformer and magnetron to reduce the effective average microwave power. During such cyclical energization of the transformer and magnetron, power is briefly supplied to the transformer through a surge protection or current limiting resistor at the beginning of each such cycle to reduce the high currents that may otherwise occur in the circuit which could damage switch contacts, the magnetron, and other circuit components; and afterwards full power is supplied and is later cut off.

  • Patent number: 3991572
Abstract: A partitioning sleeve is positioned in the main body of a thermal actuator to form a separate internal liquid reservoir from which fluid may be supplied to the actuator heater. The heater is part of a heater sub-assembly that is sealed in an opening formed in the main body of the actuator so that the coil-type electric resistance heater is accurately positioned for submersion in liquid in the variable volume chamber formed in the main body of the actuator. Moreover, the recycling or cool down time for the thermal actuator is reduced by thermal transfer between an appreciable contacting surface area of an extensible diaphragm that partly forms the actuator chamber and a guide cap that also supports and guides the diaphragm during its extension to enlarge the variable volume chamber.

  • Patent number: 3986226
Abstract: Roller cover support consists of blow molded sleeve having plural protruding ribs to frictionally retain the roller cover in place. The ends of the sleeve are molded to receive and mount end caps thereon which include suitable bearings for the roller frame shaft and provide some support against collapse or flattening out of the sleeve during use under pressure. The O.D. of the end caps and adjacent ends of the sleeve are slightly smaller than the I.D. of the roller cover for normal concentricity and guidance of the roller cover onto the sleeve, and the ends of the ribs are tapered to wedge the roller cover on. When the roller frame shaft extends all the way through the roller support, perforations may be placed along the length of the sleeve to provide for drainage of any water or other liquid that may seep into the interior of the sleeve through the end cap bearings during clean up.

  • Patent number: 3984989
Abstract: Means for repairing or forming structural bodies of self-hardening fluid cement mortar, in a subaqueous or other situs, utilizing a body-forming cavity including body-shaping walls of porous fabric in combination with openwork matrix means. Fluid mortar or like cementitious material is pumped into the cavity to fill the same and expand the fabric walls against tensional restraint of the fixedly maintained matrix means. Pressure of fluid material may be continued against restraint of the matrix means until small proportions of the fluid material ooze through the porous fabric, which indicates attainment of a lower water-cement ratio in the formed body, after which the fluid material is allowed to set and harden to such given formed shape.
