  • Patent number: 4086976
Abstract: A tractor vehicle having an engine in a heat and sound controlling enclosure. A plurality of access apertures are provided therein including a pair or evacuation apertures for allowing the passage of heated air out from the enclosure. A second enclosure through which a flow of ambient air is drawn has an air intake and filter and a plurality of heat exchanging units housed therein. • Patent number: 4081996
Abstract: Force-measuring devices are provided for measuring the force transmitted between two members, including a force-transmitting element of resiliently deformable material and of generally C-shaped cross-sectional configuration having inner and outer generally cylindrical and concentric surfaces and an axially extending slot defined by facing angularly spaced surfaces. The outer cylindrical surface is engagable by the members at diametrically opposite portions of the element which lie along a diametral plane generally transverse to a radial plane through the slot with the diametrically opposite portions being relatively displaced toward each other in proportion to the force transmitted between the members. Such displacement is measured by a potentiometer having an arm rotated through a lever member from displacement of one of the diametrically opposite portions relative to the other.

  • Patent number: 4081050
Abstract: Engine location above or alternatively in front of the front axle of a two axle vehicle provides improved weight distribution in a tractor. Heat exchangers are located amidships with a fan drawing air through the heat exchangers and directing it around the engine. Heated air is directed away from the operator's compartment at the rear of the vehicle. Primary fuel tanks may also be mounted amidships and configured to provide arcuate planar surfaces for directing air borne noise and improving the flow of air to the heat exchangers.

  • Patent number: 4061079
Abstract: A fluid operated motor amplifies input force and communicates a greater amount of output force to a reaction device. Input effort is directly proportional to the amplified output effort. A power piston residing in a cylinder bore has an input rod, having a spool valve and a reaction piston, laterally movable through a bore in the power piston. Fluid flow is metered to a working chamber by the spool valve in response to the position of the input rod. An output rod moves with the power piston to deliver an amplified force to a linkage.

  • Patent number: 4050478
Abstract: A hydraulic pump arrangement and control circuit for supplying fluid at high volume and a high pressure to a work circuit. The system utilizes a fixed displacement pump, a variable displcement pump, a dual pressure compensator, and an unloading valve working together to provide high pressure fluid delivery while reducing the horsepower requirements of the fixed displacement pump and the variable displacement pump. High flow is provided through the utilization of the combined pumps and high pressure is attained through the unloading of the fixed displacement pump through the unloading valve and destroking of the variable displacement pump in response to signals provided by the dual pressure compensator.
