Abstract: A tractor vehicle having an engine in a heat and sound controlling enclosure. A plurality of access apertures are provided therein including a pair or evacuation apertures for allowing the passage of heated air out from the enclosure. A second enclosure through which a flow of ambient air is drawn has an air intake and filter and a plurality of heat exchanging units housed therein. A flow inducing fan draws air through the chamber and the heat exchangers and directs it directly out the front grille of the vehicle.
Abstract: Force-measuring devices are provided for measuring the force transmitted between two members, including a force-transmitting element of resiliently deformable material and of generally C-shaped cross-sectional configuration having inner and outer generally cylindrical and concentric surfaces and an axially extending slot defined by facing angularly spaced surfaces. The outer cylindrical surface is engagable by the members at diametrically opposite portions of the element which lie along a diametral plane generally transverse to a radial plane through the slot with the diametrically opposite portions being relatively displaced toward each other in proportion to the force transmitted between the members. Such displacement is measured by a potentiometer having an arm rotated through a lever member from displacement of one of the diametrically opposite portions relative to the other.
Abstract: Engine location above or alternatively in front of the front axle of a two axle vehicle provides improved weight distribution in a tractor. Heat exchangers are located amidships with a fan drawing air through the heat exchangers and directing it around the engine. Heated air is directed away from the operator's compartment at the rear of the vehicle. Primary fuel tanks may also be mounted amidships and configured to provide arcuate planar surfaces for directing air borne noise and improving the flow of air to the heat exchangers.

Abstract: A pilot source of fluid pressure allows the engagement of a lockable differential into a locked mode in response to a pressure signal directed to it. Metering of the signal is related to the operating condition of the implements being carried by the vehicle regardless of operator initiation of the differential locking control.

Abstract: A quick coupler device for use on tractor vehicles in which a quick attach plate is connected in place of the usual implement. Implements, equipped with complementary attachment fixtures, attach to the quick attach plate. A spring loaded latch automatically locks the implement to the quick attach plate and a projecting lug on the implement is engageable with a plate to hold the latch in an unlocked position.

Abstract: A transverse appendage is spring biased into contact with a protuberance equipped platform. The platform protuberances act as detents impending arcuate travel of the transverse appendage. Tabs extending upwardly from the platform positively limit the arcuate travel of the transverse appendage.
Abstract: A plurality of segmented components are arranged to form a fixed radial heat exchanger. Each segment is an independent heat exchanger having a core of fluid tubes and air flow corridors between the tubes. Air flow is maintained through the heat exchanger by means of a propeller type fan mounted coaxially with the heat exchanger.
Abstract: A fluid operated motor amplifies input force and communicates a greater amount of output force to a reaction device. Input effort is directly proportional to the amplified output effort. A power piston residing in a cylinder bore has an input rod, having a spool valve and a reaction piston, laterally movable through a bore in the power piston. Fluid flow is metered to a working chamber by the spool valve in response to the position of the input rod. An output rod moves with the power piston to deliver an amplified force to a linkage.
Abstract: A control module is isolated from the vibrations of a host vehicle through the use of vibration absorbing mounting components and flexible control cables and fluid lines. The control module further incorporates a multiple functioning control armrest integral with the vehicle seat for directing vehicle motion as well as the operation of ancillary equipment. The control module can be used on a wide range of vehicles as a layout of the platform is compatible with many types of vehicles.
Abstract: A hydraulic pump arrangement and control circuit for supplying fluid at high volume and a high pressure to a work circuit. The system utilizes a fixed displacement pump, a variable displcement pump, a dual pressure compensator, and an unloading valve working together to provide high pressure fluid delivery while reducing the horsepower requirements of the fixed displacement pump and the variable displacement pump. High flow is provided through the utilization of the combined pumps and high pressure is attained through the unloading of the fixed displacement pump through the unloading valve and destroking of the variable displacement pump in response to signals provided by the dual pressure compensator.
Abstract: Providing a secondary frictional material between a primary frictional material and a backing plate for use in a clutch or brake system having a reaction member which operates in an oil bath, whereupon the consumption of the primary frictional material through contact with the reaction member allows contact between the secondary frictional material and the reaction member. The secondary frictional material is of a composition such that upon motion contact with a reaction member an audible sound is produced.

Abstract: An operating rod comprising a foot pedal assembly is carried on a first movable body and is maintained in vertical axial alignment with a control means grounded to a second movable body. The operating rod maintains operative association with the control means regardless of divergent movement between the first and the second movable body.
Abstract: A device for allowing the transmission of motion from an input arm to an output means and preventing the transmission of motion from the output means to the input arm. A lockable cam acting on an arcuate surface acts to lock the device while components of the input arm may act to disengage the lockable cam from engagement with the arcuate surface.
Abstract: A pneumatic spacer and cushioning tire assembly, having an armored peripheral track fitted thereto is provided for use on construction and earthworking equipment. The track assembly has a non-uniform cross section tapered belt of elastomer insulated inextensible filaments constrained between anchor plates and traction plates.
Abstract: A plurality of linkage seals are provided in an air distribution vent having a plurality of movable louvers for directing an air stream. A common linkage connects the louvers together for simultaneous adjustment. The linkage seals prevent foreign matter inclusion from adversely effecting the smooth operation of the louvered linkage.

Abstract: A load sensitive hydraulic system having a variable displacement pump, a priority dependent work circuit, at least one secondary work circuit, priority means preferencing fluid flow to the priority dependent work circuit over the secondary work circuit, flow and pressure compensating means responsive to requirements of either work circuit for controlling displacement of the variable displacement pump and a relief valve, when overriden, allowing fluid flow to the secondary work circuit.
Abstract: Parallel linkage supporting a seat and an instrument panel in a vehicle allow the seat and panel to be moved together to a distant operating location.
