  • Patent number: 4970846
Abstract: A product support table, having an elongated longitudinal opening is positioned over a pair of fin seal wheels which provide a seal between two edges of a sheet of film that has been wrapped around an article. The product support table supports a pair of product transport belts that are located between the product being wrapped and the product support table. The belts run the length of the product support table generally in contact with the top side of the table and then, on the return run, are directed upwardly to the bottom of the product support table for most of its travel back to a drive roll and a belt take-up roll.

  • Patent number: 4954042
Abstract: A double telescoping horizontal arm, adapted for use in a robotic palletizer, including an outer member, an intermediate member and an inner member in telescoping relationship to one another. An idler wheel, mounted to the intermediate member, simultaneously engages both the outer member and the inner member so as to rotate in response to movement of the inner member relative to the intermediate member. Rotation of the idler wheel, in turn, drives the intermediate member in the same direction as the inner member thereby resulting in a double telescoping action.

  • Patent number: 4936443
Abstract: An apparatus and method for connecting the opposite ends of a belt conveyor stringer to longitudinally spaced ground engaging support stands without the use of tools. The stringer is made from a length of round pipe, the ends of which have diametrically outwardly projecting locking lugs for locking the stringer ends in slotted brackets fixed to the top of the support stands. The outer wall of the bracket has a gravity actuated lug keeper plate, or a spring loaded lug keeper plate, which locks the lug in the bottom of the slots in the bracket when the stringer is rotated in one direction.

  • Patent number: 4909016
Abstract: A rotary film sealing and severing device for use with thermoplastic film for forming packages. The device includes a rotating anvil assembly and a counter-rotating film cutting assembly having a heated sealing and cutting knife. First and second liquid cooled clamping bars on either side of the knife hold the layers of film together while the film is being sealed and cut. Cooling the clamping bars prevents the film from adhering to the clamps and causes the layers of film to quickly fuse together and allows high speed operation by preventing separation of layers of film due to slow cooling.

  • Patent number: 4907933
Abstract: Vehicles supporting a load are propelled between a load receiving station and a pallet unloading station. When the loaded vehicle is in a predetermined location, the pallet unloader is actuated causing the unloader ram element of the pallet unloader to contact the load and urge the load off the support vehicle and onto the load receiving station. This unloading is accomplished while the vehicle continues to move through the unloading station. The rate of unloading is coordinated with the speed of the vehicle through the unloading station.

  • Patent number: 4868759
Abstract: Package wrapping machine infeed conveyor and film web control utilize an infeed conveyor position signal compared to film web signal to adjust the film web letoff to the article in feed conveyor to deliver the article and the film web to a film forming location in register. A processor outputs a digital signal to a motor speed controller which will increase or decrease the feed web letoff rate. Input from the infeed conveyor may be processed by the processor to perform forward or reverse correction as necessary to synchronize the infeed conveyor with the film web letoff.

  • Patent number: 4852717
Abstract: A light contact feeder uses a pair of individually controlled conveyor belts to receive randomly spaced articles and to deliver the articles in a lightly abutted arrangement. The feeder uses a trio of accumulator scanners above an accumulator belt to control belt speed and deliver lightly abutted articles to a metering belt. The metering belt delivers the articles at proper speed and phase to an article processing machine.

  • Patent number: 4830172
Abstract: A rotary article feeder has a bowl having a substantial conical base section joining an upwardly extending and outwardly displaced sidewall section. Articles to be handled contact the outer wall and are assisted in transport out of the bowl through contact with the ever increasing circumference of the bowl sidewall as the articles move upwardly on an inclined stationary ramp to a transport surface for distribution through various fence and wiper accessories.

  • Patent number: 4803387
Abstract: A linear belt motor, especially useful for driving a land vehicle, having a pair of sprockets with a belt trained over them. Permanent magnets are attached to the belt and u-shaped stator poles are positioned astraddle the belt between the sprockets. Windings on the stator poles are connected with a control circuit means for independently determining the speed and torque output of the motor and its direction of rotation. Each stator pole has large radius faces and a width which is substantially twice that of the permanent magnets. A second embodiment employs a second belt also provided with permanent magnets and u-shaped stator poles having their windings also energized by the control circuit means.
