The closure includes an actuator mounted on a body secured to the container. The actuator is tiltable between a closed position and an open position. The body has a severable abutment portion under the actuator. The actuator has a shearing wall confronting the abutment. The actuator includes a depending structure defining a pair of spaced-apart retaining surfaces for sliding into engagement with the abutment when the actuator is subjected to at least a predetermined force to shear the abutment whereby the sheared off abutment is gripped between the retaining surfaces.
Abstract: A mobile antenna system for use at frequencies in and above the 800 MHz band having a collinear radiator mounted on one surface of a dielectric such as the window of a vehicle. A coupling system is affixed to a second surface of the dielectric. The coupling system includes a counterpoise for coupling RF energy between the radiator and a transmission line connected to a suitable transceiver. Decoupling members connected to the counterpoise minimize coupling of radio frequency energy to defogger wires on the window.

Abstract: An elevation part (10) added under the nozzle (11) of a condensate pick-up shoe in a steam cylinder (4), by which part a desired liquid level can be produced in the cylinder.
Abstract: An electrical power distribution system is provided with an elongate track and a plurality of power tap assemblies that are engageable with the track. The power tap assemblies may be moved to any desired location along the track. Power may be fed into the track through one of the assemblies and taken out of the track through another of the assemblies. Receptacles may be mounted to one or more of the power tap assemblies. A latch system can hold the power tap assemblies in (1) a fully inserted, electrically engaging orientation and (2) an electrically disconnected orientation wherein the components are still supported on the track. The components employ spring terminals which establish electrical contact through a surface-to-surface butt engagement with a conducting member. Mechanical key systems are provided for preventing improper mounting of the components on the track and for preventing the connection of more than one power in-feed to the track.

Abstract: Disclosed is apparatus for enhancing the surface cleaning of a swimming pool having a skimmer inlet in a wall of the pool and the pool having peripheral water movement generally along the wall. A first rigid plate, having an upper and lower edge and inner and outer ends is supported by a support generally vertically adjacent the skimmer inlet such that an upper edge of the first plate is above water level, the inner end of the first plate extends generally vertically downward intermediate the sides of the skimmer inlet and the plate extends inwardly at an angle with the pool wall in a direction opposite the direction of water movement. The lower edge of at least the inner end of the first plate is substantially adjacent the bottom edge of the skimmer inlet.
Abstract: In a ride-on snow sled of the steerable type, a pair of support side runners are fixedly attached to fore and aft vertically oriented legs. The legs are adapted to slide up and down within hollow tubular frame members. The upper ends of the front legs of each runner are attached to one another by a non-compressible and non-extendible cable member. Similarly, the rear pair of legs are connected through a rear tubular frame. Thus, a shift of weight causing the right ski to extend downwardly from the frame causes a proportional lift or rise in the left ski such that the legs on the left ski retract into the frame. With the skis at different heights proportionate to the slope of the hill, an edging effect is created, permitting the operator to traverse the hill without sliding in much the same manner as a skier traverses a hill.

Abstract: A disposable absorbent panel assembly including a fibrous absorbent panel and a liquid transfer layer. The fibrous absorbent panel includes front and rear end panel portions, and central panel section extending between the end panel portions. The central panel section has opposite side edge panel portions and a central panel portion positioned between the side edge panel portions. The end panel portions have a relatively lesser basis weight than the side edge central portions. The fibrous absorbent panel contains highly-sorbent superabsorbent material which is substantially confined to the central panel portion. The liquid transfer layer is positioned above the fibrous absorbent panel and extends longitudinally thereof at least along the length of the central panel portion. The liquid transfer layer promotes wicking and distribution of liquid within the absorbent panel assembly.

The purge valve assembly comprises a nose frame projecting from the body frame such that a V-shape cross-section is formed, a laterally elongated, and generally oblong valve which is configured to sit on a valve seat on a front wall of the nose frame for closing a laterally elongated, oblong opening passage. The purge valve assembly further comprises a nose cover having a configuration conforming to that of the nose frame for covering the nose frame, and a discharge opening defined between the nose frame and the nose cover.
Abstract: A method is described for making concrete from an initially dry mixture including Portland cement, a fine aggregate, and a coarse aggregate. The method is effective for curing mixtures which contain rubble, as well as for mixtures which contain primarily virgin aggregate. In the method, substantially dry steam is introduced to the mixture at elevated temperature and pressure. Air injection may be utilized to further increase the pressure. An improved concrete is also described. The concrete exhibits unexpectedly high compressive strength.
