Abstract: A front gate for a shopping cart basket comprises two stanchions, each formed from a wire fixed to the front edge of a side panel of the basket, and a gate panel including horizontal wires defining upper hinge pintles and lower latch pintles. The wires forming the stanchions are bent to define vertical slots having front openings and permitting vertical movement of the gate panel between a lower position and an upper position when the hinge and latch pintles extend into the slots. The openings are disposed to permit the gate panel to swing on the hinge pintles and the latch pintles to exit the slots via the openings when the gate panel is raised from a lower position to an upper position whereupon the gate panel can be then dropped at the hinge pintles so as to open the front gate.
Abstract: A system for fabrication of absorbent articles includes a linear array of frame modules each having an open interior. Panels are mounted to one face of the modules. Article fabrication mechanisms are mounted to project from the panels. Operating means are disposed within the modules and are operatively engaged through the panels with the fabrication mechanisms. An operating and control system is provided for a machine in which disposable absorbent articles are fabricated. Continuously operating mechanisms are driven by electric motors for continuously operating on moving webs and other components of the article. A main drive shaft is rotated for transferring power through direction phasing mechanical power transfer devices to mechanisms which intermittently effect unity operations with respect to an associated moving web.

Preferably, that surface is glass.
Abstract: This relates to a tray assembly that can serve the of a conventional tray, a bed tray, or a bathtub tray. To accomplish this, the tray is provided with legs. When it is to be used as a conventional tray, the legs are merely folded underneath the tray. If the tray is to be used as a bed tray, the legs are moved to a slightly overcenter position to support the tray in an elevated position. To use the tray as a bathtub tray, the legs are returned to the folded position beneath the tray and are designed to move horizontally outwardly to extend the length of the tray so that it can be located on the sides of the bathtub.
Abstract: Improvements are disclosed in a machine for applying carrier stock of resilient polymeric material to substantially identical containers, each having an upper rim of a given diameter and a side wall of a larger diameter. The carrier stock has container-receiving apertures in longitudinal rows. A conveyor conveys the containers in longitudinal rows. A wheel assembly comprising two wheels with paired jaws receives the stock, stretches the stock transversely, and moves the stock downwardly past the rims. The conveyor, the wheel assembly, and the jaws on one wheel are adjustable for applying the stock selectively in a rim-applied carrier position or in a side-applied carrier position. The conveyor is supported by a table and is adjustable vertically, via spacers insertable between the table and a base. The wheel assembly is adjustable longitudinally, via rollers on longitudinal rails. The jaws on one wheel are adjustable transversely, via screws.
Abstract: A pallet comprises a plurality of stringers extending longitudinally and a plurality of decking members extending transversely. As folded from corrugated paperboard, each stringer has an upper panel and six panels on each side of a generally vertical plane intersecting the upper panel. The panels on each side include an outer panel extending downwardly and outwardly from the upper panel, an outer panel extending inwardly from the downwardly and outwardly extending outer panel, an inner panel extending upwardly from the inwardly extending outer panel and secured to the like panel on the other side, an inner panel extending outwardly from the upwardly extending inner panel and secured adhesively to the upper panel, an inner panel extending downwardly and inwardly from the outwardly extending inner panel, and an inner panel extending outwardly from the downwardly and inwardly extending inner panel and secured adhesively to the inwardly extending outer panel.
Abstract: The present invention relates to heterocyclic compounds, characterized in that they have the general formula I ##STR1## wherein Ar, n, and Z.sub.1 and Z.sub.6 are defined in the specification, are disclosed to have pharmaceutical activity on the central nervous system.

Abstract: A dispensing closure is provided with a body having an outlet passage. A sleeve is mounted on the body for rotation relative to the body. The sleeve has a transverse deck defining a discharge passage for communicating with the body outlet passage as the discharge passage moves in an arc relative to the body. In one embodiment, a seal is provided between the sleeve deck and the body around the outlet passage and discharge passage. In a preferred embodiment, an actuator is mounted on the sleeve for rotation with the sleeve. Engaging structures are defined by the body and actuator for tilting actuator between a closed position and an open position while the actuator is rotated with the sleeve. The actuator includes engaging portions for engagement with drive members projecting upwardly from the body through openings in the sleeve.

Abstract: A multiple channel transmitter usable for wavelength division multiplying includes a grating and a curved reflector. A diode array generates a plurality of parallel, spaced apart radiant energy beams which are incident on the grating at an acute angle. The plurality of beams is deflected in part, into the reflector. Back reflected radiant energy is deflected, in part, to the members of tile array causing them to lase at a plurality of different frequencies. The zeroth order deflection of the forward propagating beams off of the grating forms a parallel output.

Abstract: The invention provides a method for separating metallic corrosion products from a water stream. A filter conditioned with a relatively small amount of ion exchange material exhibits comparatively low pressure differential while processing a water stream at commercially desirable flow rates and retention efficiencies. The method permits longer filter runs with a minimal application of material on the filtration surface. The invention additionally provides a filter for separating metallic corrosion products having a relatively broad range of particle sizes from a water stream.
Abstract: A novel process for grinding limestone to a predetermined particle size distribution is disclosed. The process comprises feeding a feedstock of limestone to a roll grinder having a pair of opposing rotating rolls having a smooth surface, the rolls being separated by a predetermined nip or gap and having a predetermined circumferential velocity, and grinding the limestone between the rolls to a particle size distribution including particles in a range of about 75% to about 90% by weight greater than 200 mesh to produce a limestone product. Optionally, particles larger than about 14 to 16 mesh are removed, in a separator, and refed to the roll grinder.
Abstract: A method and apparatus are provided for controlling slag in a trough of a tilting furnace or in a free-standing tilting vessel. On a tilting furnace, the apparatus is mounted on a trough extending from the furnace tap hole and has a reservoir for receiving flow of molten metal and slag from the trough. The reservoir has a slag opening. One of its walls functions as a dam with a bottom opening. A passage extends from the bottom opening along a weir which terminates at an elevation above the bottom opening but below the slag opening. The molten metal flows over the weir and out of the device. The slag is retained in the reservoir and is discharged from the reservoir through the slag opening. In the free-standing tilting vessel, there is a reservoir, slag opening, dam portion, bottom opening, passage and weir, of a substantially similar design as that of the apparatus attached to a trough of a tilting furnace.
