  • Patent number: 8117208
Abstract: A system has a processor coupled to access a document database that indexes keywords and instances of entities having entity types in a plurality of documents. The processor is programmed to receive an input query including one or more keywords and one or more entity types, and search the database for documents having the keywords and entities with the entity types of the input query. The processor is programmed for aggregating a respective score for each of a plurality of entity tuples across the plurality of documents. The aggregated scores are normalized. Each respective normalized score provides a ranking of a respective entity tuple, relative to other entity tuples, as an answer to the input query. The processor has an interface to a storage or display device or network for outputting a list including a subset of the entity tuples having the highest normalized scores among the plurality of entity tuples.

  • Patent number: 8110777
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method of dividing a plane-parallel plate made of a brittle material into a plurality of individual plates having a specified edge length, in which break-off cuts are made along specified scored lines that form a lattice-like pattern by introducing thermally induced stresses by means of a laser beam, and in which, after making the break-off cuts along a first working direction, the resultant plate strips are spaced out at intervals in that a framed stretch film to which the plane-parallel plate is bonded is stretched by means of a vacuum device. The invention also relates to a device with a special clamping table for use in carrying out the method.

  • Patent number: 8112096
Abstract: A system and method for estimating a location of an unknown Node B in a wireless communication system having a plurality of other nodes and a plurality of location measurement units. A first value may be determined based on a network timing characteristic for one of the nodes, and a second value may be determined based on a network measurement report characteristic from a user equipment (“UE”). An observed time difference of arrival (“OTDOA”) hyperbola may then be calculated based on the first and second values, and a location of the unknown Node B as a function of the OTDOA hyperbola. Therefore, through the combination of a UE network measurement report characteristic and a downlink timing measurement from a location measurement unit, the location of an unknown Node B may be determined.

  • Patent number: 8106461
Abstract: An apparatus comprises a circuit for measuring a gate leakage current of a plurality of transistors. A circuit is provided to apply heat to gates of the plurality of transistors. A circuit is provided to apply a single stress bias voltage to the plurality of transistors for a stress period t. The stress bias voltage is sufficient to cause a 10% degradation in a drive current of the transistor within the stress period t. A processor is provided for estimating a negative bias temperature instability (NBTI) lifetime ? of the transistor based on a relationship between the gate leakage current and one or more of the group consisting of gate voltage, gate length, gate temperature, and gate width of the plurality of transistors. The relationship is determined from data observed while applying the single stress bias voltage.

  • Patent number: 8104111
Abstract: A shower device is proposed that features a fixed-installation housing. This housing can, for example, stand up from the floor and may extend beyond normal human body size. The housing is fitted with a shower arm that can be moved out of an inactive position. In the inactive position, the surface of the shower arm lies flush with the surface of the housing. The jet discharge area of a shower head arranged in the shower arm faces inwards, so that it is only possible to see a flat surface on the exterior of the housing. Through pressure on this surface, a catch mechanism is released and this causes the shower arm to move out of the housing. This is accomplished via a drive mechanism, which may feature a spring, for example. Extension is performed at a relatively slow speed, which can be achieved using a damper device. The shower arm moves to a position in which the now-visible jet discharge disc of the shower head can be used as an overhead shower.
