  • Patent number: 4646388
Abstract: Bales of filamentary material are separated into weighed charges of the material by disintegrating the bales in a rotating drum to produce tufts that are passed to a picking chamber wherein a toothed roll strips individual filaments from a supply roll formed from the tufts and passing the filaments to scales upon which the charges are accumulated. Each time a charge is accumulated on a scale, air is blown across the scale to discharge the scale. The charges are delivered to a magazine having a plurality of vertically stacked chambers, each chamber underlain by a movable gate, through which the charges are passed sequentially to be discharged at a fixed schedule from the lowermost chamber.

  • Patent number: 4639979
Abstract: A collar that fits on the bar of a barbell to prevent weights from sliding off the bar. Two semi-circular sections of the collar are hinged together at one end of the sections to permit closure of the sections about the bar and a toggle linkage is mounted on the other ends of the section to hold the collar closed about the bar. Neoprene pads are affixed to the inner peripheries of the sections to grip the bar and prevent movement of weights thereon when the collar is mounted on the bar. The collar can be mounted on the bar or removed therefrom without moving the collar over the end of the bar so that weights can be placed on the bar while the collar is in place and subsequently secured by moving the collar and a weight can be removed from the bar by moving the collar to a position in which the weight is between the collar and the end of the bar prior to moving the weight off the end of the bar.

  • Patent number: 4613040
Abstract: A case having two relatively pivotable, open ended case sections that abut at the open ends when the case is in an open position to form a walled, open-positioned to form a walled, open-topped enclosure, the case having a closed position in which the floors in the two sections are disposed parallel and the walls of the case sections extend about three sides of the region between the floors of the case sections. The case further includes a closure panel having a laminar central portion which is moved into recesses in the floors of the case sections when the case is opened so as to avoid forming a blockage between the floors of the two case sections in the open position and which is moved to a position to close the fourth side of the case in the closed position.

  • Patent number: 4609912
Abstract: A detector system for detecting air flow wherein air flow is sensed by a first detector and air flow is sensed by a second detector which is spaced a distance from the first detector, the first and the second detectors each providing output indications indicating the respective sensed air flows. The detector system includes means for receiving the output indications provided by the first and the second detectors and for providing an output indication in response to an increase in one of the first and the second detector output indications, thereby providing an output indication indicating an increase in the air flow sensed by one of the first and the second detectors relative to the air flow sensed by the other one of the first and the second detectors.

  • Patent number: 4607422
Abstract: A bonnet is locked to the body of a valve into which the bonnet screws by a sheet metal bonnet lock which includes a portion that will mate with facets on the bonnet or with the sides of the valve body. Another portion of the bonnet lock is then deformed to mate with the other of the bonnet facets or valve body sides. The portion of the bonnet lock that mates with the facets on the bonnet circumscribes the bonnet such that one portion of the bonnet lock is fixed to the bonnet and the other portion is fixed to the valve body following deformation of the bonnet lock to prevent the bonnet from turning relative to the valve body.

  • Patent number: 4599567
Abstract: An apparatus and method for generating a representation of an arbitrary signal wherein the signal is represented as a sum of reference signals derived from a standard wavelet defined on a grid in the frequency-time plane. The apparatus comprises a plurality of octave circuits, each octave circuit, in turn, comprising a plurality of band circuits that divide a frequency range covering the spectrum of the signal into equal intervals of logarithm of frequency. Each band circuit comprises a bandpass filter to select a frequency component of the signal and a correlator to correlate the signal component with a reference signal derived from a standard wavelet to produce a series of correlation values representing the signal for recordation in response to clock pulses received by the octave circuits.

  • Patent number: 4589388
Abstract: A vane support ring is mounted within a housing to rotate about its axis and support vanes which pivot about diameters of the vane support ring and divide the interior of the housing into two chambers. Drive shafts, pivotally attached to the vanes, extend through drive shaft apertures formed through the housing to coordinate pivotation of the vanes to rotation of the vane support ring so that the two chambers increase and decrease in volume with rotation of the vane support ring. Gases are introduced into the chambers via an inlet port and discharged from the chambers via an exhaust port that are opened and closed in coordination with vane support ring rotation by poppet valves and a cam ring geared to the vane support ring and extending about the poppet valves or, alternatively, by a slotted valve ring extending circularly about the housing and geared to the vane support ring. A spark plug or fuel injector mounted on the housing provides a combusting fuel in each chamber at minimum chamber volume.
