Abstract: An improved drilling rig which is mounted on a trailer to be transported from one location to another. The drilling rig includes a hoist for raising and lowering equipment, the hoist including hydraulic cylinders and a pair of cables. One end of each cable is connected to a base and the opposite end of each cable forms an equipment end portion which is connectable to the equipment to be raised and lowered, a portion of each cable being moveably connectable to a portion of the hydraulic cylinders. Portions of the hydraulic cylinders are moveable to raised and lowered positions for raising and lowering the equipment end portions of the cable and the equipment connected thereto.
Abstract: A milking system for cows having a pair of parallel rows of milking stalls on an upper floor and an operator's cart adapted to move along the rows of stalls on a lower floor. An elongated opening is formed in the upper floor along the stalls through which one or more operators on the operator's cart may have access to the udder and teats of the cows to be milked. The stalls are provided with entry and exit gates; doors are provided for the elongated opening; spray bars are provided for cleaning and disinfecting the cows udders and teats; and suitable milking machines are provided for connection by the operators.
Abstract: A recombinant vector adapted for transformation of a suitable bacterial microorganism host to produce and secrete streptokinase. The recombinant vector comprises a plasmid into which a polydeoxyribonucleotide fragment from Streptococcus equisimilis H46A which codes for streptokinase synthesis and secretion has been inserted. The transformant bacterial microorganism including this recombinant plasmid vector produces streptokinase suitable for clinical fibrinolytic usage after purification.

Abstract: A heat pen comprising a first tube, a holder tube coiled with resistance wire and a metallic cylinder as a stylus. When the resistance wire is charged with electricity the metallic cylinder is heated to mark heat-sensitive recording paper. When the metallic cylinder is worn down by extensive usage, it is readily removed and replaced by a fresh metallic cylinder.
Abstract: An improved rotating head having an inner barrel disposed within and rotatingly supported on an outer barrel wherein a rotary drive member is connected to the inner barrel. A kelly is extendable through the inner barrel and the rotary drive member is adapted to grippingly and sealingly engage the kelly so that rotation of the kelly causes rotation of the rotary drive member and the inner barrel connected thereto, the engagement between the rotary drive member and the kelly providing the sole source for rotating the rotary drive member and the inner barrel connected thereto. The rotary head also includes a bearing adjustment assembly which facilitates the rotatability of the inner barrel.
Abstract: A method for selectively plugging the more permeable regions of an underground formation having non-uniform permeability wherein a first surfactant solution is injected into the formation in an amount effective to contact a substantial portion of the surface area of the highly permeable regions of the formation, which first surfactant solution is characterized as having a selected chromatographic velocity and as being capable of reversibly adsorbing onto the surface of the pores of the formation. After injecting the first surfactant solution, a water-soluble spacer fluid is injected in an amount sufficient to place the first surfactant solution a selected distant into the formation, the spacer fluid being characterized as having a pre-injection viscosity about equal to the first surfactant solution.

Abstract: A cover forming apparatus for forming a sheet of material about an object to produce a decorative cover for the object. The cover forming apparatus includes a cover former having an object opening formed through a portion thereof which is adapted to receive the object. The cover former includes portions forming resilient contactors which are adapted to resiliently engage portions of the sheet of material for pressing the engaged portions of the sheet of material against the object when the sheet of material and the object are passed through the object opening. The cover forming apparatus particularly is useful for forming the sheet of material about flower pots to form a decorative flower pot cover.

Abstract: The invention concerns a repair kit for vacuum cleaners, and a method of repairing a vacuum cleaner, in which a vacuum cleaner housing with a worn or damaged keyway for a keying member on a brush roller is reconditioned by removing the portion of the housing with a worn keyway and substituting a U-shaped member which provides a new keyway as well as retaining slots for spring detent members. The cap member of the brush roller is provided with a keying member as well as a spring member with spring detent members.
